Joe, My thinking would then be to look at other scopes with similar focal lengths that are not as long and heavy.? I also watched their introductory video, and this is a big jump in size compared to their older products. I agree you won't know how your mount performs with all that moment-arm factor until you try it.? So general consensus is it will be at the upper limit, but should be able to handle imaging at .6 and .75 arc seconds?? That's image scale of a 533mc at 1295mm and 1096mm with reducer.

Hey George,?? The camera is an OSC, no filter wheel.? Just reducer spacers, OAG, camera.? What the spacing is I do not know at the moment.? A mini 12vdc computer on top of the scope where all the camera stuff is plugged into.? Simple set up.

I'd say it's at the limit depending on how it's equipped for AP. That applies to the length, too add the RF, whatever back focuser tube(s) are needed, filter wheel and camera and 55" is easily attainable. Now we're in the 50 pound class.?
The?Astro-Physics 175mm f/8 Starfire and TEC APO180FL f/7 180mm have similar specs and $20k price tags when you can find one.? Astro-Physics recommends the? 110 pound capacity for the Starfire.?
Like John, I question that a scope of this size can be delivered anywhere near that price point. AP has sold,?maybe, 30 Starfires? Gearing up to produce optics of this size involves a large infusion of capital. Unless it's for military purposes, Zi has clamped down on bank loans. Offshore investors are wary of ventures in China.?

AFAIK the Gemini 2 requires FAT32 formatted micro SD cards. FAT32 is a single 32GB partition. You can use larger capacity media but Windows cannot natively access more than 32GB and has a 4GB file limit under FAT32. Hi Joe, The mount side of things I would not worry about. Your G11T should handle the weight. My concern would be what quality you might be getting for a new scope not yet on the market. The specs seem great, but will the manufacturer really deliver? Personally, I am not an early adopter anymore as I have been sorely disappointed before with a hole in my wallet. I'd let somebody else be the tester and read some reviews before placing an order, but that just me.? Good luck. I¡¯d suggest that the G11 would be quite adequate to the task and that a G11T or ¡°full fat¡± Titan would be more than ¡°man enough¡± for that ¡®frac. ? Wish I had your budget¡ ? David ?

I'm from the days that came later, but I did spend some time writing the early video games that had to fit into an 8K ROM cartridge, and yet contained 3D animated graphics, sound effects and music, and multiple levels of interactive play. Talk about having to be code-efficient ;)?

Where are the "good old days" when the women of Japan could make a living weaving four strands of copper through 4,092 ferrite beads for a week to come up with 512 bytes of core memory? Thirty-six such assemblies gave each SAGE mainframe 18.4k core. This was later upgraded to 156k. SAGE was built to protect the continental?U.S. from Soviet bombers. It went operational in 1953 and was built out to 24 nodes by '58. Each node had twin mainframe cores that shared 58,000 vacuum tubes and weighed 250 tons. The nodes were connected by 1,300 baud lines leased from Ma Bell. No longer safe from missile? attack, the last 6 nodes were shut down in 1984.
Now I can reach into a nearby drawer and pull out a $4 128Gb TF card or a $14 1Tb micro SD.

I think the original one in my Gemini II is only 2gb!
The one Losmandy sent was 8gb and contains about 100mb of data.
I my understanding is that various upgrades will be much simplified with this upgrade.

Really not sure I have used 32Gb just fine in HC and MU. ? ?As these were cheaper and easier to obtain than trying to get 4 to 8 Gb cards.?
But that is overkill, 4 Gb should be plenty. ? has more info on this ? Just remember format them fat 32?
I have often wondered what will happen when microSD under32Gb become rare or uneconomic to buy. ?Maybe buy some smaller spare micro SD cards now as this will happen?

Like most people, I put the counterweight bar horizontal and the tube horizontal, and balance in RA first, then in Dec. But then I put the tube vertical and balance in the 3rd dimension.?
To aid in this, I made a ¡®lateral¡¯ counterweight, that lets me correct any mis-balance when the tube is vertical. The photo below shows this extra ¡®lateral¡¯ counterweight being used on an old CG5T. The block is made from poplar, which tends to be impervious to moisture and temperature. I bored a 20 mm hole for the Celestron counterweight bar and ?3/4¡± hole for the 12¡± x 3/4¡± stainless steel rod. A few collar clamps add extra moment-arm to whichever side needs it.
With this extra ¡®lateral¡¯ counterweight I can balance the scope on the mount in all 3 directions.
