Target unreachable?

I have been doing some practice with my new mount in my living room. Earlier this afternoon I was doing modeling to get a polar alignment and it went well. At 7 pm I tried to do it again,
and I kept getting ¡°target unreachable¡± warnings, so the mount wouldn¡¯t move. I was wondering whether it had something to do with the safety limits of the mount. I have tried to change
it, but I guess I am missing a few steps here and there.?

Re: worm turn with MUCH difficulty

I think the high torque servo motors are included in the Gemini 2 Retro-fit kit which is what I ordered and is shipped.

Hi Michael,

With all the excitement I forgot say WOW! your images have come so far! Are these from the Edge HD14? What are you doing with the 12" ACF, has it been productive?? ?

I have a SkyFi III and it works very well, great even!??

Thank you for your warmth and forgiveness, Paul.

I cannot forgive myself.??

Perhaps it is the short sleep cycle of imaging, processing images, or a twitchy Send finger.? But it is not the first time of such a mistake, and I must change my own behavior to protect our nice group from abuse.? I again apologize for my offense.??

Hey Michael,

I just wanted to take a minute to thank you for the detailed write up you did (I think mainly for me:) about Jupiter imaging and processing a few weeks back.
I actually printed it out and have used it as my field goto guide, and since then, have gotten the best Jupiter imaging I have ever attempted.
Had it not been for your going way above and beyond, I would probably not be imaging planets at all.
I realize that I had not replied directly to that thread, and just wanted you to know that the effort you put into that great guide has helped me a LOT!

Thank You!
Astronut Tim

Re: Finding stars

Hi Jeff

Yes, you need two things at a minimum, both available at ASCOM

?

first is installing the ASCOM platform (which may require you to install other windows components, but it should walk you through that)

second is the Gemini Telescope.net ASCOM driver, available on the same site here:?

?

Scroll down until?you see Gemini Telescope.net

You will need to decide how you want to plug in the Gemini to your computer, you have several?options: USB, Ethernet, serial port.?

Re: Finding stars

Thanks for the tip, Michael. My Gemini isn¡¯t connected to a computer. I will have to try it.

I wrote to Michael personally as well, but i'd like to say for the record that i also hope you stay,?Michael

It would be a loss for all of us if you left.?

I've said plenty of dumb things and was grateful for the feedback and corrections.? I hope we can all learn from each other

And if you're gonna talk smack about me, you gotta keep those threads separate ;)

Re: G11 Gemini 1 control over ethernet

Hi Dave

also FYI there's a great WiFi option called SkyFi, which is a very capable serial to wifi adapter

it's good for planetarium type applications such as Sky Safari, but less applicable for imaging or guiding

Re: Finding stars

Using the Handset you are limited to the initial Bright Star list for one first star, but after that you can use:? Object database, Stars, and pick your star...plenty there.

But if your Gemini is connected to a PC, you can try this... using Stellarium instead you can Model with any object whose center you can find (planets or deep sky too.? See attached PDF describing the way I use.

Best,
Michael

Hi everybody. I had my gear out last night to get more familiar with my new Losmandy mount and to take a few videos. Because of all the bright lights, the moon, and huge trees, blocking nearly everything to the east, and some things to the west, I had some difficulty modeling. I think I could have done a little better If I could choose my own stars, but I didn¡¯t see any place on the menu that had named stars. I don¡¯t know stars by their numbers. How would I get named stars on the hand controller?
