Yes, i tried to simplify that

although it does correct for more than mount errors to enable both pointing and tracking modeling, including flexure and mirror flop

QHY-CCD has a Mac client for PoleMaster but there's a bit of a trick to it. ?Once you install it, click the ‘Polemaster’ application icon (just once ... you only want to select it. You don’t want to launch it), then right click and select the "Show Info" (or use CMD+I). ?In the "Info" window there's a tick-box to “Open in Low Resolution" mode. ?

They wrote the app before Apple had "Retina Display" macs. ?Today *all* MacBooks are "Retina" so Apple doesn't bother to call them "Retina" macs anymore. ?QHY never updated the app for the new display resolution. ?If you don't do this, then the star template on screen wont match the camera resolution and nothing will line up (I’m a surprised there is even a need to do this since it’s possible for an application to query the display resolution).

I did mention the software does, just occasionally, crash. ?But when it doesn’t crash, and if you “Open in Low Resolution” then it works correctly and you get great results.

As for KStars/Ekos... that's actually pretty impressive full-featured software. Here’s a link to the video explaining how the Polar Alignment Assistant works:

Ekos leverages an integration to . ?While you can upload to their servers in the cloud, it’s possible to run locally on your computer — which is the better option when you are observing from a location with no working high-speed internet.

they are very similar; some are simple and hence correct for limited error terms in the mount; I have an EQ6-R and its modeling is much simpler than the G11 Handcontroller modeling (seperate?terms for both sides of the mount orientation, and numerous error terms).? But best?investment is accurate polar alignment?(everything pales IMHO).

Congrats Rick, I have a new G11G, I have had a few curves getting to know this mount. All of them were my doing, the G11G works like a champ. The first thing to remember is the Losmandy mounts do not work exactly like other GEM's. They work better if you know how to communicate with them correctly, LOL....
Off the top I do recommend a couple of things that were passed on to me on this forum.
( 1 )? Lable the DEC and RA cables and I marked the direction of the key's on the cable Jack's and motor housings with left over lable tape, so you dont plug them in wrong.
( 2) with the same lable tape I put reference markers on the RA so I can goto CWD position easily in the dark. The nice bubble levels provided by Losmandy on the RA and DEC only work if the are level. After you adjust your ALT to what ever your location requires the bubbles on the RA and DEC will not be as accurate.
Cool runnings Rick. "HAPPY SKIES AND KEEP LOOKING UP" Deric

I have a new G11G coming next week and would like to make a bracket to hold my wiring plate. I think I could attach it? to the DEC axis tube below polar align hole. Would anyone know? the tube diameter.

Thanks,
Rick

Hi Rick

i just measured it with calipers, about 63mm

You might also consider using a dovetail mounted to the top of the scope for gear placement?

Congratulations!?I bet you will Love your new Losmandy G11G

I hear Ya, Rick. But mine is a GM811G. So a hybrid of G11 RA, and GM8 Dec.
Probably not the same. However, mine reads ~2.4590" in that area. Or 62.45 mm
But my experience is that 5 machinists can measure the same thing, and get 5 slightly different measurements.
So as hard as it might be, just waiting for your mount for your final settings would be best. That way the measurement is yours.
And not this honyok out here in cyber space. ;^)
