Henk,
I took another look at the column.? Is it gold all the way around?? It looks so smooth and even, I find it hard to believe the sunlight reached all the way around the column and underneath the lip (can't see...) producing such an even (nice?) finish.? Maybe it's just exposure to the environment, e.g.? hot and cold temperatures?? Regardless, I have never see such an profound and even color change.

Re: Cannot connect to Gemini; No such host is known

Some routers allow you to reserve an IP address for a specific MAC address. I¡¯ve got mine set up like that. Worth checking to see if your router allows you to do the same thing.?

Re: Cannot connect to Gemini; No such host is known

Same happens to me Russ. ?When modem router powers down it resets DNS and assigns any old address.?

Re: Happy Thanksgiving!

Sure is s crazy year and always happy to be here, but what¡¯s thanksgiving?

From downunder, it all appears a bad time for Turkeys! ? We have emu¡¯s and they are impossible to catch and I hear not great eating. Indeed there was a big emu plague way back in 2930s. ?The Australian Army was called to cull them but failed, badly ?¡°Sad day in Australian military annals, the Emus beat them!

I suppose the Emus were happy with themselves! ?Quite the opposite to said Turkeys! ?A rollicking read!

Though I hear the President pardons one Turkey each year! ??

But all I all good to be here Thankyou to all

cheers

Woohoo! Happy to hear! Clear skies to you and happy Thanksgiving.?

Re: Cannot connect to Gemini; No such host is known

Appreciate your help.? For the first time in a few years for some reason the IP of the mount had changed.? I entered in correct ip address in the hand controller and now everything working as usual.? THANKS AGAIN!!!!

Re: Cannot connect to Gemini; No such host is known

Seems like your DNS lookup is failing for some reason.
Can you connect to your mount with a browser using ?
What is your Gemini2 battery voltage?

I'm assuming you are connected via a router using DHCP. Let us know if you are using a direct connection or a ethernet switch instead. Can you plug in your handset and go to menu --> System --> Network and see if DHCP is enabled and if you have an assigned IP address?

On your router, does your router interface have to ability to see the ip addresses of the connected entities? It is possible if you had a power outage or if the router was offline for a while that the mount was assigned a different IP address and it does not match the address in the hand control.

Maybe try rebooting your router.

Happy Thanksgiving to everybody.? We have much to be thankful for.

Re: Light-Weight Tripod Turning Dark Purple

Sunlight, especially the UV portion if the spectrum, has a tendency to start bleaching anodized aluminum parts. If you are keeping your rig outside under a scope cover, it's good to check if the brand you purchased is resistant to UV rays. There are some cheaper brands that may protect against rain and weather, but the UV can still penetrate. So the bleaching can start happening on lots of other things other than the tripod legs like the mount itself, dovetails, camera bodies and anything else with an anodized coating. Painted items like OTAs can start to lose their color as well, depending on how good a job the manufacturer did when making it.

CS all,

John

Re: Light-Weight Tripod Turning Dark Purple

What Mr. Simpson said, but I would like to add one more thing.? I want to elaborate on sealing.? The aluminum is anodized making an porous oxide.? Then is it dyed.? Then SEALED in a follow up process.? Often the dye will fail from UV, or the more likely, the sealing might be failing.? I say sealing, because I have many power supplies with purple heatsinks that never saw the light of day.? So just plain dye degradation or sealing failure is my guess (not ruling our UV in your case).? Both could be the result of sub-standard chemicals or improper process (length, temperature).

Re: Light-Weight Tripod Turning Dark Purple

Now you know it's genuine Losmandy. ?
That purple color is characteristic of the dye that Scott uses.
The only way to avoid it is to avoid sunlight.?

Wow - Until I saw the black picture I thought you were kidding. LOL

I would rather have gold than dark purple.

Re: Light-Weight Tripod Turning Dark Purple

that turned from anodized black into gold after being exposed to the sun.
