Re: Polemaster Adapter for Titan Mounts

Donald,

You might want to check out ADM accessories, too. I bought a mount that fits on the dovetail of my OTA. The Polemaster is smart-enough to figure things out even if not attached to the RA axis. I've used the ADM and the dedicated G11G attachment, and they work equally very well.

I wish to attach a Polemaster to the Titan.? I went to this link ? but there is no mention of what adapter to use. Can anyone help?? I am preparing a 'list' of what I need before I order anything.

If there is a certain part no., please list it here or it could be that Losmandy already knows what I need. Ut Oh -- never mind --on Losmandy main site, they do have a POLEMASTER-T listed for $320.? That probably has everything I need.

Kindly

I have to ask, why? ?Are you using the Titan as a portable mount? ?If so, I am impressed. ;)

Can't blame Mark for finally doing this. He's been doing an amazing job, all by himself, and as I understand it, not getting paid much for his trouble. It's nice of him to grandfather in the existing basic groups and keep them free of charge.

Probably best to contact them before ordering, though.

great add Paul!

I totally forgot about robin cassidy.

I own many plates and dovetails from him, sad to see he passed along the business but it still seems to be going

Some changes to Groups.io

Folks, a few updates of note for Groups.IO, our group host:

  1. You may not have noticed, but there is now a way to link very large files in the Files section to your own Google Drive, Dropbox, Box or OneDrive file shares. That saves on the amount of space used by the uploaded files, and we only have 1GB. So, if you need to upload a large video or a big FITS image, consider doing this by adding a link, instead:

  2. Mark Fletcher, the owner and the creator of Groups.IO that starting on August 24, all new free (basic) groups created on Groups.IO will be limited to just email list subscriptions, with no shared services like the group we have here. This does not affect this group or any other groups created prior to August 24. But in the future, if you are considering creating a group like this one, with all the website access to features like polls, directory, calendars, photos, files, databases, etc., these will require a paid subscription. Again, this doesn't affect this or any existing groups. Just letting you know, in case you are thinking of creating a new group. The next couple of weeks is the last time you'll be able to get all of these features for free as part of the basic subscription.

Re: Counterweight calculator

Hi Arun

i'm not aware of one for astronomical mounts, and i'm not sure how effective it would be (although I did stumble?across this?) there's some maths in there, so that may be what you're looking for?

I recall you were in a thread not too long ago about balancing and flex. A lot depends on the distribution of your counterweights and your strategy around that. with the weights closer to the balance point there is more weight needed.

Will depend on weights and length from center of balance.

Re: Gemini 1 SRAM error/WD reset/garbled display

Michael is pretty spot on.?

WD is a catch all error caused usually by program loop not completing. The G1 garbled displays could be (in no order): SRAM, CPU, EEPROM (or any IC in the data lines) even a bad HC display?

Normally I would give pointers to look at but this appears a multilevel fail and you will need replacement ICs and very good soldering skills to fix.?

Best to send it for repair unless you are experienced in SMD removal and replacement.?

Michael has pointed out the repairers pick your closest. G1s a fully repairable so don¡¯t fuss on it looking so sick....it¡¯s repairable

cheers

Re: Gemini 1 SRAM error/WD reset/garbled display

Thank you for your advice.

Re: Gemini 1 SRAM error/WD reset/garbled display

Hi!

Sorry to read of the trouble.

You will need your G1 repaired.? It may be a corrupted EPROM, but more likely a blown SRAM chip, needing surface mount board resoldering.??

Depending on your locale, I suggest you send it to:

Michael Herman in the US

David Partridge in the UK

Brendan Smith in Australia

David and Bren are listed with their contact info as Gemini repair experts on this website:

I will be added when the website updates next....? I'm at mherman346@...

All the best,
Michael
