Re: G11 guide speed update
We'd have to see some guidelogs to determine what is actually going on, but it's unlikely that 2x really means 1x. Personally i'm a fan of "results speak for themselves" so if you find something that

Re: G11 guide speed update
In the past, I have observed that my RMS error at a guide speed of 2x was as good or better than at a speed of 0.5X I am thinking that what Losmandy calls 2X is actually 1x, and therefor does not

Re: G11 guide speed update
Yes great point Les it needs to be set to 0.5x for guiding you could also use 0.3x but guiding would be less responsive -- Brian Brian Valente portfolio brianvalentephotography.com

Re: G11 guide speed update
The ST-4 port on the 492 digital drive is the same port as the hand controller. In other words, the mount treats them exactly the same because it has no way of knowing which device is providing the

Re: G11 guide speed update
This is a standard G11, no customizing. Is the st4 guide rate the same as that indicated by the LED controller, and therefore the guide rate of the hand controller?

Hi! You are a star, Ray! For the first time, I feel like I understand it better! (Sorry for the "straight into the ground" - I only got half of my thinking there. Of course not straight, but somewhat

Re: G11 guide speed update
ah that is an important detail! on the digital drive system you would choose your guide speed. it's whatever you set it to, and is indicated by the LED on the controller if you are guiding via ST-4

G11 guide speed update
I was testing the G11 guide speed , and noticed that when I set the speed at 2x, and slew east, there is no movement not a reversal of movement (measured by my DSC encoders.) This suggests that the

Re: Side-of-pier issue
Magnus, Dec = -90 is not straight at the ground unless you are at the north pole. :-) For example, if your latitude is 40 degrees then the north celestial pole is 40 degrees above the horizon. The

Hi! Thanks for your reply! However, I am not sure I understand - which is not surprising because I find this to be a difficult issue to describe and understand. I think the hour angle description

Re: Side-of-pier issue
Hi Magnus, I'm not sure if this has been said before, but "pier side" is determined by declination axis position alone. It is not affected by the right ascension axis position, so slewing the mount

Re: Side-of-pier issue
Hi! How's it going with this? Makes any more sense? On the indi-forum, it is spoken about in terms of hour angle, maybe better way. My test shows that between -3 and -9 hours, the side-of-pier shifts

Mine is 20 years newer. I can't reference it at the moment as it is set up ready for the evening. But I do know the guiding rate is 0.5. Can't swear to the guide rate, but I think it is 2.0. Then the
