Re: finderscope bracket
I have a Losmandy polar scope on my smaller Losmandy the GM8 and it works very well for visual use but if imaging it's not good enough without additional work using the drift method, SharpCap or

Re: G11 cable management
Hi Dale, I will say this about the tucked motors, they made my standard G11 with Gemini 2-mini and latest high-torque motors a lot narrower and surprisingly a lot quieter for some reason. Combined

Re: Polar Scope
I'll add my two cents on polemaster.? For those of us having arthritic issues with bending down and having your neck at an odd angle, the polemaster is the best ever.? One downer is having to

if you're looking to save money, you might try the new polar align assist built in to PHD2, the latest dev release. it's free B Losmandy_users@...> wrote: -- Brian Brian

Re: Polar Scope
I did some research on both the Polemaster and Sharpcap. Sharpcap is pretty inexpensive, so I may give that a try first. No point in buying another camera if I don't need to. Larry

Re: G11 cable management
Hi Chip, Thank you for all that information about the temperature and it's effects on the worm-gear drive train. I think I'm just sensitve to having to spend money on a mount that's only 18 months

Re: G11 cable management
Paul, One of the reasons I bought the mount was because of the reputation for support and innovation. I too think the system is very good. Maybe I'm just a bit sensitive because my mount is only 18

I also bought the Polemaster. It works and it is much more comfortable to look at the computer screen than to crouch down low behind the mount -- which, unless you live close to the equator you will

Re: Polar Scope
I would have to agree with Brian. When you get the polar scope you have to align it. That gets frustrating. I had one I know. I went to the Polemaster for like $10 more and found it's a whole lot

Polar Scope
I am seriously considering a GM811G mount. The polar alignment scope is an option. Do I need this or does the Gemini 2 do an adequate job of alignment without it? How about time required to do initial

Hi Don, Can you elaborate on your drive setup? I mean, do you use dc serve motors tucked under with a belt drive? Cheers Arnold

Re: GM8 DEC Clearances
Thanks, folks. I was hoping it would have been a feeler gauge setup that I could do in the dome. Looks more like a strip the whole thing down and bring it in the house kind of a job. So a

Re: GM8 DEC Clearances
Greg, Lots of info... but procedure would be this: 1. get car feeler gauges. the spacing may be large requiring you to stack two feeler gauge sheets. 2. Measure and write down the original spacing

Greg, If by worm clearances you mean the mesh spacing as indicated by the position of the bearing blocks relative to some (unknown) reference point the answer is No. It is a "feel it and

Re: GM8 DEC Clearances
Hi Greg, Pretty easy. If it is tight, winding the worm by hand, it's probably too close. If you can significantly move the axis by hand, with the clutch tight, then it's probably too loose.

Dale, I really can¡¯t agree that the parts are a fix and should have been included in the first place. The mount works well without the upgrade but it works better with it and as I understand it
