I would suggest that you leave PHD2's backlash compensation enabled.? It is a good way to judge the current residual backlash after any TVC compensation is applied.? Just make sure it never auto adjusts itself to near zero.? If so, reduce TVC.
As I recall, I had TVC set to about 10 on level 5.? In level 6, I think I have it set to around 40 (each increment of TVC compensation in level 6 with 4X encoder resolution is 1/4 what it is in level 5).
