Those other parts nearby have nothing to do with the serial port.? It¡¯s just RS232 IC and CPU. ? These are a pain to replace as the boards are older and pads lift off too way easily. ? There are a few different variations on this IC with various temp ratings, ports etc suffice to say all new are non lead.? They are very susceptible to ESD and ground loop damage. This is why I use Bluetooth into the port?
