Russ,
My setup is on a permanent pier in a ROR observatory.? I set my "Home" position to be 90 degrees, where my counterweight bar is level to the deck, and park at Home when I finish observing.? Need to do that or the roof will hit the telescope when closing it.? Added benefit also is I can roll the roof off before I observe to let the temperature regulate, without starting Gemini and without hitting the telescope.
I always start Gemini with "warm restart" from Home position.? I understood it to be the same as Brian's description.? It works fine with no problems, models are good, accuracy is good.? Warm Start is used when starting from CWD position.
Once you set a Home position, you will have two park choices, Park at CWD or Park at Home.
So yes, its do-able (and very convenient too).
