The Belleville discs work best with fresh ABEC-7 grade bearings on the worms. Don't over do it on the SuperLube for the worm and worm wheels, a light coating on both is all you need and this helps reduce the chances of clutch disc contamination.?

Some people have improved the 2-piece worm block drive by tying the blocks to each other using the existing blocks and worm "dust cover" by drilling and tapping small fasteners to attach the blocks to the dust cover. This holds the blocks and bearings in better alignment and allows easier backlash adjustment. You leave the left side block just a little lose and use the right side block to adjust backlash.

When tightening the right side block be careful to maintain the desired backlash by using a feeler gauge or stack of feeler gauges and holding light pressure against the feelers between the block and worm gear body while snugging down the right side block fastener. Don't overdo it, if the surfaces are kept clean and grease free it takes less torque to hold backlash adjustments.?

For imaging use be surr to set backlash on a COLD acclimated mount to allow for the material contractions! Also know that you must run the RA and DEC all the way around the worm wheel to find the tightest position and set your backlash at that point or you will likely have lagging or stalling in the cold. In a warm room the backlash will seem excessive, do not be tempted to "fix" the backlash in a worm room!?

Your guided PE with HP worms will likely hover around the lower end or lower that your current PE. But should be more consistently on the lower end.?
