Thanks for the response.? I wasn't clear in my original post.? I do have the SAO catalog on my GoTo lists in the hand controller.? I am asking about a way to go to Epsilon Lyrae or Nu Scorpii without having to look up

their SAO numbers and then enter them in the SAO section to target the Go To.? I could do the same by entering RA and DEC.? In both cases, I think I would have to get the information from another source, like a computer or book.? Previous experience with Sky Commander and Celestron Nexstar I could just look up the star by its designation and punch Go To.? I was asking about a way to do that with the new HC.? I guess

I can always look up what I need (my alas has RA/DEC) and then enter it in the HC.? Just more cumbersome than the other two products.? Am I missing something?

You can even build your own catalogs.? They must be in “.guc” format, but the format is fairly simple.? It’s just a comma-separated-value file where each entry has four values… name, RA, Dec, and Info.? There is a specific format for the RA & Dec fields.? RA is 6 digits for HH:MM:SS.? Dec is also 6 digits but has a sign (+/-) in front, so ±DD:MM:SS.
