Muh, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, haaaaaaaa.... There be Plate Solven here!

Sonny Edmonds

Lord, what a PITA it's been!
But tonight... finally... successes.
I've been gathering images and saving them in fits files, as well as tif file formats.
I was beating to death Astro Tortilla today, but it wants fresh meat, new pictures.
So I decided to ASPS All Sky Plate Solver with some of my pile of files.
Suddenly, I got a solve. Then figured out the way to get it to move the mount. Yeess!
Then my computer seemed to lock up. Nothing seemed to work. Finally I looked over at the 811 and saw it was still red buttoned. Apparently it hadn't finished it slew and was the hang up. Doh!
Stopped that and control came back. So I spent some time and hooked up the baby dell, my mount computer, and played for a while.
So I think at least ASPS is going to work now. It takes some time, sometimes. But generally solves in 20-40 seconds. I look forward to my next night out with some fresh images to solve.
Brian's been coaching me, too. pointing out setting changes, like a 2.76 pixel setting.
I knew if I kept flogging this Plate Solving it would work.
This stuff is like learning a foreign languish.
But the Gemini 2 makes it happen when the background perimeters are set. Looks like maybe next Monday I can do some live play.
You guys Rock! So glad I got a Losmandy Mount!

Thank You and Good Night!
