Re: GM-8 RA problem...

I am just trying to find out if this is just typical or are there
things we could do to improve this?

I have had a hard time getting the G11 to perform as well as other

seem to be doing. I can't do unguided exposures for more than 15
or 20
seconds with my Tak FS102 and the periodic error is very jumpy. My
crappy
LX50 forks had about the same *unguided* performance. However the
LX50
forks were imposible to get working with an autoguider, bounced
around a
lot, and couldn't handle much weight - so the G11 is a massive
improvement
in those areas. I'm also just a little frustrated that the G11 is
not
usable without guiding for such short exposures.

You are correct, sorry for the confusion! I am simply asking
(after
ranting) how long of an exposure, UNGUIDED, can I expect with the
GM-
8 with say a TV101 @ f4.5 with an ST-7 1x1 binned? I am currently
getting 60 sec 1x1 binned images using a CG-5 (with Vixen motors)
and
the keeper rate is about 75%. With my new GM-8 I am getting 20
sec
images with the TV101 @ f4.5 and the keeper rate is only %50. My
GM-
8 mount seems to have the dreaded "jumping" periodic error that is
not very periodic! Anyways, thanks in advance!!
