I too was told I would need to mount my C8 OTA upside down on my
Losmandy Dovetail.
I discovered otherwise. I used the standard dovetail for the G-11 and
was able to mount the OTA rightside up. It takes a little finesse, but
it worked with no problems.
The plate is bolted using the opposite sides of the elongated holes
provided on the plates (thanks to Scott for that forsight) four corners.
The elongation of the mounting holes is what helps, the bolts just fit.
You can not use all four holes, but everything remains orthagonal, tight
and trouble free. After continued set ups and tear downs and a road trip
to Arizona's night skies, a mountain top star party, I have yet needed
to adjust the dovetail mount on my OTA. It works.
