Good morning Larry,

?Have you tried POTA than SOTA. ?It's less strenuous.

Or, going forward, you could always just use it in the shack with all those beautiful keys you built. ?:) If I sold mine I'd miss it right away because it's just cool to look at, but if you're trying to "thin the herd" of radios you own, then I understand...

As always, Best 73,

?Appreciate the advice. I still do SOTA and POTA but I just don¡¯t need the smaller, lighter radio for the long treks. I have a KX3 that is plenty good for the job.
I started SOTA 10 years ago with a KX3. I just can¡¯t do the long hikes and bushwhacking that I used to do. Kinda sucks to get too old for this stuff. There are a few easier trails that I like to do for SOTA and plenty of POTA parks, which are easy.
?I agree, the TX500 is one cool radio, but no sense in it sitting on a shelf getting all lonely.?

I understand Larry. ?Your KX-3 is more than capable for a short walk to a picnic table for POTA activation. ?I love POTA for that very reason as a 62 year old myself is not that physical of an activity and allows me to get out in nature and run my radios. ?I've made a few POTA YouTube videos on my K9AT YouTube channel that are informative and funny. ?Finally you're right, that TX-500 is lonely on your shelf. ?Fortunately with the new technology these days we don't have to worry about that radio's caps drying out from inactivity like our older rigs. ?:)

Decided to keep my TX500. Don¡¯t know what got into me. As a matter of fact it will go with me on a SOTA activation tomorrow.
it is perfect for quick picnic table activations too.
These are really nice radios.

BRAVO! ?Your radio herd is now complete and intact! ?Maybe it was my convincing you to keep it...
