NEW FIRMWARE V1.17.13

Morning all,

The latest firmware is up.

Play happy ?

Thanks for your info!

I loaded the new firmware, but now when using the?TUNE/MULTI encoder?with setting INTEL, the VFO behaves very strange.
E.g. when tuning the frequency down fast, the frequency increases. When switching back to PLAIN all seems fine, except that one can't use the INTEL mode, of course.

Did anybody else notice this new behavior?

73 Stephan?

I just updated my firmware and it works properly.

This was a problem with one of the earlier beta tests but was fixed, or apparently not. If the problem persists please email with explanation to support@...? 73

After loading the firmware, some VFO modes and/or frequencies were different. So I tried to reset the settings but unfortunately, the strange behavior with the '00 Encoder: INTEL' setting is still the same.

I contacted the Lab599 support explaining the strange behavior. I'll keep you informed.

I think it would be helpful if more users could test the VFO behavior with the INTEL setting and post their results on this thread. Maybe only some batches suffer from this problem? My rig is about two years old and origins from the first EU-shipment (S/N. TX5210503xxEU).

Mine is about the same age. Certainly pre-invasion anyway. I'll try the firmware on it and see how it goes.

I've just tried the new firmware on my radio and the VFO encoder works normally. They've adjusted the scaling so it's easier to move quickly across the band .?

The update went well, I can lower the Tone power to 10% for use with the DIY599 amp ?. Now, if I could lower output power to 100 - 500 milliwatts for JS8Call . ?. . ?

Hi Ronan,

Thanks for your feedback, very helpful!

Good news:
After I reset the TRX some more times and copied the settings and memory channels back, the issue is much less severe.
If you turn the VFO frequency down, the frequency sometimes still jumps up a bit, but not like at the beginning, when it sometimes jumped up by 1 MHz. This issue never happens when you increase the VFO frequency instead.

If you don't explicitly look for this issue, now you might not recognize it at all. Therefore, as it is now, I can live with it.

I made a short video to show the small issue as of now:

I also informed the Lab599 support.

Is there information on lowering the tone power?
I have just updated the firmware, and even though I turn the xmit power down to 10%, the output on tone is still around 5W

TIA, Mike VK6MB?

The setting is a submenu of menu `23 Tone`.

You need to find tone in menus and lower there

It is now more like the Icom IC-7300 where spinning the VFO it rolls quicker than before in Intel mode. Based on the assumption that if your spinning the VFO fast you want to tune quickly. Spinning it slowly and all will be as normal.

Hope this helps.

Absolutely, this was much needed and behaves more like my IC-7300. A feature Yaesu owners dream of (I have a few Yaesu rigs and you need the [fast] key to spin up fast. Great feature.

Menu 23 has the tone power level added there.

Nope. My ftdx-10 goes super fast. It has a second vfo ring for this which is very convenient as the slower knob doesn't automatically speed up exactly then when you don't need that feature.

Thanks Dominic,?
Much appreciated.?

Mine is a pre-invasion unit and the firmware works spot on.

Yesterday I tested the rig with the new firmware on a SOTA summit in the Alps.

Unfortunately, the initial problem with the jumping VFO frequency, when using the INTEL setting, returned. It was nearly impossible to tune to a frequency, because the frequency jumped sometimes by nearly one MHz. When I changed to?PLAIN, all was fine again. But when I wanted to make a video of the issue, by switching back to the?INTEL setting, it was working fine again!

To me, this is an intermittent issue, that may or may not happen anytime, but only when using the INTEL setting with the V1.17.13 firmware.

I don't know how Intel mode worked before.? Did you try going back to the previous version v1.16.06 to see if it also happens? It will be interesting to see if anyone else observes the problem. If it is a software issue, it should be possible to reproduce the problem, although it is often difficult to determine the precise conditions that cause it to occur.
