IF DSP explanation
I operated Winter Field Day with a small group yesterday. The TX500 handled itself well. There was one issue that came up. I was operating 15m and another op was on 10m. I was clearly picking his

Re: Lab 599 for youth
I have been using my Tx500 for the last month as my primary base unit. I figured this was the best way to fully test all of its usefulness and I must say it has been a really good experience. I bought

Re: Lab 599 for youth
Ve3ega - thank you! ?That¡¯s precisely the type advice I¡¯m seeking. Kids are hard on equipment, which is a reason I was thinking of the TX500. Ease of use didn¡¯t get much thought. I¡¯ll have a

Re: Lab 599 for youth
John, While I own and love my TX-500, it is definitely not a CW-Learning type of Radio for new Hams! If I were honest, I would say the TX-500 is more a 'custom-radio', designed specifically for

Re: BP500 Questions
I received my BP500 this week. ?I received an email from HRO last week (shortly after my previous post about a retuned shipment) indicating my unit would ship from the Delaware store. ?My order

Re: Audio Chip?
Correction. Twice at the repair shop. The second time it broke there were multiple theories on what was wrong and a long delay, and that's probably where my confusion stems from.

Odd that they didn't share the info about what they repaired but certainly fitting with the way they havent shared the schematic of the rig or the service manual. Icom, Kenwood, Yaesu share their

I don¡¯t get it ¡ª the repair place didn¡¯t bother telling you what the problem was the 2nd and 3rd time? ?Seems odd they wouldn¡¯t share that info.

Re: Audio Chip?
My unit has been back to the repair shop three times now. The first time it was for the audio chip. The second and third time it was likely something else burning out. My other two SOTA radios (IC-705

Re: BP500 Questions
I'm sure that in person at most HRO stores is a good experience, but when there is no local store and one orders online, the product can come from any one of them, and dealing with warranty issues via

Well then I would follow up with HRO. ?All the HRO's have a common inventory system. ?Mine was shipped from Delaware even though I placed the order through Milwaukee.

Which HRO? Mine in Milwaukee is staffed by hams who actually do care and like to talk to you about the?gear and operating. Maybe your salesperson was having a bad day. RichKQ9L

Re: BP500 Questions
In my experience HRO is careless about customer service, and even worse at communication. The store manager I delt with on failed audio chip warranty was not helpful, rude even and the employee that

Re: BP500 Questions
That's odd that I received mine in little over a month. ?HRO requires receiving a payment in advance. ?Did you pay them? ?If you did then I would follow up with HRO and see what's up.

Re: BP500 Questions
I was going to order one a while back, but HRO requires payment up front, so I decided to wait until they have them in stock. I stopped holding my breath (hi)! -- 73, Norm/KC1BMD

I use either a double or single lever paddle but do not use "squeeze" keying with the double lever paddle. When I first got the TX-500 (not sure what firmware version now), Iambic-B was the default. I
