Re: Tuner for tx500
The T1 seems to be rated 10w continuous (digital) which seems like it is right on the edge as I get a bit more than that out of my tx500 in many cases. Maybe it is close enough.
The em2 (which I have and love) says 15w peak. Again, I am guessing I am pushing it with digital. It does not discuss that specifically. Great suggestions - maybe I am overthinking this. Keep 'em coming. |

No Power On Transmit
Hey everyone. Radio was working fine until another radios microphone fell on it. Screen got weird but I fixed that with help from US support but now when I transmit in SSB or Digital it shows NO power output in the meter and no recognition on PSKReporter.
Any suggestions to check on the radio? Settings? Or is it time to send it in to get repaired? |

Interested in the mAT-10 myself (for use with the TX500), so would be interested in comments on this one too. Richard M0RGM On Sat, 21 Jan 2023, 16:26 Gregory Pasqua via , <gpasqua1=[email protected]> wrote:

Re: Tuner for tx500
Hi Jim - I'm using an Elecraft T1 ATU.? ()? I think it hits all the marks you're looking for: Small, light weight, BNC, and is rated for 20 watts.? The only downsides are the price, and the waiting list to get one.? I waited about 4 months for mine, but have been very happy with it.

Tuner for tx500
I'd like to pull the group see what tuners you have used successfully and are most happy with for field operations with the TX 500.
I have been using a kit built ZM2 manual tuner, which I really like, but I believe with the TX 500 putting out a little more than 10 watts and digital operations which I do quite a bit, it's just too much for that tuner. I'm open to automatic or manual, but it does need to be able to handle extended digital transmission at the TX 500 full output, which may be somewhat more than 10 watts. I do have several resident antennas, and that's what I try to use when I can. However there are times when the random wire is just the easiest thing to deploy, and that really needs a tune. Also sometimes the field conditions just don't lend itself to an optimum deployment, if I don't have well located trees or other handy places to hang the antenna. I can't always put up one of my poles. My other priority his size and weight, as I try to keep a small light pack wherever possible. If I had a choice, BNC connectors is a big plus, as it saves me on adapters, that's what the radio end most of my antennas use. I had sort of hoped we might see one for the TX 500 form factor by now. But world events seem to have complicated that matter. Welcome your thoughts and experiences. Jim |
PTT amplifier
Hello. I have an HF amplifier with an active PTT ground input on its PTT input and I want to control its transmission and reception by my TX-500. I read on the documents that pin 2 of the REM/DATA connector offered an open collector PTT OUT output with a maximum voltage of 25V and a maximum current consumption of 0.5A. When the TX-500 switches to transmission, does the pin 2 of REM/DATA connector present a ground or a voltage ? The amplifier I need to control is GND active on its PTT input and only draws 1mA with 10V maximum. I therefore deduce that if pin 2 of the connector offers a mass to transmit, I can directly connect this pin to the PTT command of the amp. Am I right or should I consider an adaptation circuit? 73 |
Re: When I tap the top of the microphone it transmits
I am an absolutely moron lol Thank you very much. Problem solved. Now to reach out to US support and pay for this spare microphone? Thank you kindly sir 73, Matt On Jan 10, 2023 at 1:49 PM, Stephan HB9EAJ <hb9eaj@...> wrote: Hi Matt, First thing that comes in mind: have you VOX enabled? 73 Stephan |
