Re: Achieving Max Power With FT8 on 40m
Gary Priest (KC8JOK)
If you¡¯re getting over 12 watts to the antenna you are already over driving the radio. The LP-100a should be more accurate than the meter on the TX-500. Might want to check the ALC to make sure you¡¯re not distorting your signal. I see 27.8w from the battery ( powerwerx meter) and 12.1w to the antenna with SWR of 1.36 measured on an LP-100A, there is an elecraft T1 tuner in between the radio and the antenna- 40m inverted V dipole |
Re: Achieving Max Power With FT8 on 40m
Does the radio do this (FT8 40M) same into a dummy load? Can you measure power with an external power meter (if you are not already doing this)? Can you measure DC supply current going into the radio on 40M vs other bands during FT8 transmit mode? Yes sounds to me like audio isnt making it to the radio.
Do you have the right sound devices selected in WSJT (this was my problem)
Do you have the volume up
Could be the cable, you can put a scope on it or you can put a speaker on it (clip on to the pins)
hope that helps

I just got my TX-500 today
i tested it using SSB and CW all good i built a data/REM cable - I admit it's not pretty but seems to work at least for output from the radio i configured WSJT and I have audio being decided successfully? I have CAT control also. one small issue , when I started to transmit using rig split - the radio went to vfo b but did not change its band or mode - I manually set that? I see the radio transmitting but no typical squiggle ft8 signal on the waterfall- nothing really, then it cycles back to receive i suppose it could be the cable - is there a way to know or test? Can anyone show what a good wsjt signal looks like? Also not getting spotted - so not getting out thanks |

Re: Availability of TX-500
Enjoy it Joe! It's a great little rig. I had mine out on a camping trip this last weekend. The performance surprised me.? Re: Availability of TX-500
Get them on the phone. Something isn't right. My wait was three weeks from order to arrival. Far sooner than expected.? The deletion from the orders is scary. Get them to figure it out so you get back in the line.? On Mon, Jun 7, 2021, 4:58 PM <georgi.gatin@...> wrote: I am out of lick. Ordered on May 10, payment processed May 12. No tracking.
