Re: New Firmware v1.16.06
Hi Stephan,
I hook my USB cable to the CAT connection. The memory editor sees the radio which assigns COM3 to it. I highlight an empty memory number in the editor and enter a frequency. I press UPDATE CHANNEL and see slot 2 now shows the frequency. When I press the editor WRITE button the progress bar shows its send the information. However, when I look at the TX-500 there is nothing in memory 2. When I try and READ any memory I get TRX NOT RESPONDING. I am running Windows 10 and firmware 16.? Pete WK8S |
Re: New Firmware v1.16.06
Pete, There you can send the memory content to the TX-500 by pressing the [Write TRX] button. It's a USB connection, no baud rate to be selected. |

New Firmware v1.16.06
The change log contains a one liner:
Added the ability to edit memory cells using the PC application This seems a good idea, I just don't know which PC application can be used for this purpose. Does anybody has more information? 73 Stephan Update: I just saw that Lab599 posted the corresponding Windows software: TX-500 Memory cells programming application v1.02 (Win64)Update 2: I updated the firmware and tested the memory cell software and all seems to work as expected.? |

You might check there website for documentation or even YouTube for videos. The web site is sparse and I did not locate a user guide. YouTube does have a number of user-generated videos that I will check out. I have a new Dell Inspiron laptop arriving today and will possibly run it on that or maybe try ham radio deluxe since it has a logbook I have used before that can also track frequency from the TX-500 using the Kenwood protocol. ? -- 73, Norm/KC1BMD |
Re: Portable Logging Software
I run HAMRS on an iPad mini with a Bluetooth keyboard case. The screen portion of the case swivels so that I can close the clamshell with the screen facing out so I can use it like a normal tablet. I use this setup for both POTA and SOTA. ?In addition to HAMRS, I use Gaia GPS for offline maps and GPS tracks for the remote situations. ?The only thing I miss is the transceiver cat control that auto populates frequencies.?

Re: Portable Logging Software
I'm going to try again some of these suggested mobile apps.? In the past I've found it easier to just scribble on paper, even on a windy summit, than to try to type info on the screen while conducting the QSO.? I've seen others simply use the phone to record the entire activation and then do the logging after the radio is packed up.
