Re: Connecting with Ham Radio Deluxe

John, thanks you are probably right, but I have to reach out to people who have solved this problem. I will be working on it.?

Re: Connecting with Ham Radio Deluxe

It tells you that it is PROBABLY HRD. All of the native applications using FLRIG or Omnirig are working within the limits of the TX-500s CAT protocol support.?

Best?regards and good?luck with HRD.

I can't recreate the issue, but I don't use HRD

Re: TX-500 and DigiRig Interface / Cables - Any Guides?

Clint - maybe share some of the setup screens w VARA and winlink

also - doesn't hurt to restart everything?

Re: TX-500 and DigiRig Interface / Cables - Any Guides?

New to the group here. Just got my TX500 and couldn't be happier with it for portable work! I got the updated digirig recently and have a little time to work on digital modes. I have been using the PDFs to try to setup Vara and Flrig. So far no luck. With winlink/Vara while in digital mode, I can get PTT to work but the cat control won't change the frequency. With Flrig the same applies. The raido is "connected" to Flrig but I am unable to change the frequency using my PC. I have the update for FLrig with the TX500 listed. If anyone has any input I would appreciate it. Thanks.

Re: UK - BATTERY SUGGESTIONS

Richard
I noticed that too, that's why in my comments I reference Lifepo4 batteries and the BMS, to clarify the miady batteries in the chain.
The BMS in high quality LifePO4 batteries often have "voltage protection" so the cell packs shut down and don't damage the cell's like the excellent Bioenno cells made for my PRC-2200.

All,

Think there are 2 stands to the message - one about the LiOn Talentcell batteries and one about the LiPo Miady cells.

I have two of the former LiOn Talentcells and can confirm they are current limited, I use the 4800 with my QCX Mini and the larger one referred to in an earlier post with my Discovery TX-500.? It does limit me to about 4W but does last for ages!

Which battery are you referring to, Jo?l? The Miady one will supply a LOT more current than the radio would ever draw. Mine runs the radio at full power for a very long time indeed. In fact, I run out of power long before it does....

Re: UK - BATTERY SUGGESTIONS

I concur David. For the price, that is a really great battery.

Merry Christmas and 73!

The question is whether the BMS can be changed.

I usually set the Dig RF to -35ish and that seems to work well.

Re: WSJT-X & FT8 - TX-500 Settings used ?

There was a thread about this - I found in some cases I had to turn the PC input volume down to 5% or turn the ATT on to get the WSJT dB level reasonable?

Re: WSJT-X & FT8 - TX-500 Settings used ?

Marc again to the rescue.?
Marc - I'll let you know how it works out.
Appreciate the response.

WSJT-X & FT8 - TX-500 Settings used ?

I was able to get WSJT-X configured and connected to my TX-500 today - Thanks DigiRig.
Used the Kenwood TS2000 as the CAT control definition - worked right off the bat.

However I'm having the same issues that I had with FT-891 setup as well as some new ones.
Biggest issue is with the Receive Side - DB slider on left shows about 70db.
It was about 35db before I turned off NR (Noise Reduction) and DIF (IF DSP).
Have Filter at 3.1 - wide as I can do.
I have also not had someone hear me yet.??

Can someone share with me their?tuned set of Functions and Menu settings that have worked well with the TX-500 and WSJT-X/FT8?

Best

Re: UK - BATTERY SUGGESTIONS

Yes, the B6 is a nice charger. More expensive, complex and much more versatile.? A few different models are available. Mine has AC/DC input, connects to a PC and works with all types of batteries

Re: What headsets are you using?

I ordered the W2ENY headset adapter.? I have a decent Sennheiser PC headset, but it doesn't seem to work with the adapter that comes with the radio.? I believe it is because it has an electret microphone, as most PC headsets do.? His adapter states that it has the DC bias for that kind of microphone.? I guess we will see.
