Re: Tx-500 with dynamic heil headset?
I know there is a seperate connection for the dynamic mic but what about audio levels and audio quality. ?That was my question.

Re: RF Power adjustment - possible future addition to firmware
FWIW, my experience is that it's very simple and quick. When I thought I was having a problem with the keyer (turns out it was OK) after one update, I reverted back and forth from new to previous

Re: RF Power adjustment - possible future addition to firmware
I agree being able to operate below 1w is desirable. I was curious why it
wouldn't have been that way out the box.
Still very happy with the radio and the original firmware. I've been
afraid to

Re: RF Power adjustment - possible future addition to firmware
I'm hoping to avoid spending more and adding extra stuff to carry and wire
up.. Think it would be great if it can just be done with the RF power
control in the rig.

Re: RF Power adjustment - possible future addition to firmware
This would be a nice feature but I'd like it because at 10% the TX-500 puts out closer to 2W than 1W. When using the PA500 amp (dyi599) I'd like to be able to reduce the power input to 1W or less.

RF Power adjustment - possible future addition to firmware
Hi all.
I am wondering if it would be possible to make a change to the RF power adjustment in a future hardware update. It would be fantastic if power could be turned down even lower.
At the moment

Re: Data Thermals Comparison
Add me to the list of those who have run FT8 on a TX-500 for hours without a problem. (By the way, I’ve tried that with a Xiegu X6100 without success — despite its other positive aspects, that

Re: Data Thermals Comparison
Hi Jim,
Thanks for sharing your experience.
Its good to I can go with the TX-500 and not worry about heat too much.
I have a Digirig interface. I would just need to jumper it for the 3v3 and get or

Re: Data Thermals Comparison
I am doing almost exactly the scenario you described with the TX 500. Except the beach part. Works very well. I've done FT8 in particular but other digital modes as well for hours, and as another

Re: Data Thermals Comparison
That’s great to hear guys. I’m thinking of a field day, solar powered, data modes, QRP station.
I’m also fortunate to live near a beach and I thought the TX-500 would be good for that type of

I've also run FT8 on the TX-500 for hours, outdoors in a warm climate. Never had a noticible heat issue

Re: Data Thermals Comparison
I can't compare the two rigs because I don't have a KX2 (I want one though) but I've run plenty of data modes at the full 10 watts, as well as a pile at 5w. Never had an issue. The radio will get

Data Thermals Comparison
How does the TX-500 compare in the area of thermal performance compared to a KX2? (Or other rig you may have experience with)
I had a KX2 at one time but I didn’t do any data modes with it.

Re: New Firmware v1.16.06
Yes I found it all works but the ability to write the memory to VFO is now lost which I liked and used a lot.
EDIT: I rolled back to 1.15.09 without a problem
