Re: No Power On Transmit

Okay a follow up. I disassembled the TX-500 and used a multimeter. I found there is a short between the CENTER PIN and GROUND on the BNC; both inside and out. Any suggestions on where to look to resolve this?

Re: Tuner for tx500

I've been using the ATU-10 with the 1.5 firmware and it seems to work vey well on my TX-500 using the rf sensed tuning and manual tuning.
It also works on the IC-705 using the cable for the Icom. The matching range compares favorably to the MAT-705 and the Z-11 tuners but I have not tried every possible load configuration.
It seems to have longer battery life than the MAT-705 but it does take a button push to wake it up.

Re: Amp for Lab599, TX500

Wow! I see the qrp store is now pushing a PA500 with a battery pack and frame-a-thing for just a mere $3200 - LOL

What is this dude in Germany thinking? (perhaps he thinks he has same quality as Elecraft?) -? IMHO - Way-Too-Expensive (but, hey good try with the bundling-bait!)

Personally,? I would rather buy 2 more TX-500's (@1300 ea from HRO) and a PA50 AND a battery from bioenno or even add a SteppIR to the mix!

()?

Thoughts?

Re: Amp for Lab599, TX500

Yes, fo sure, you would want a solid PTT from the radio and NEVER a VOX type transmission!

Yes I have tested with an MFJ Dummy Load and meter, showing no power whatsoever.

hook up a meter w/dummy load, send cw, or whistle to check?

Yes and it only covers from 3.5 to 24 MHz only

I had the MAT-705Plus version purchased new last year from Vibroplex that I used with my IC-705. It worked OK but struggled to find a few tuning solutions on my 80m delta loop, which my Palstar HF-AUTO had no trouble with. I could live with that but I ended up returning it because the battery life was horrible. Ultrafire (the battery vendor)?told me that they do not sell a "blue" 10440 1000mAH battery (like the one inside the mAT-705Plus tuner). The only 10440 battery they sell is "gray" and 500mAH. So it would seem the battery was probably counterfeit/fake. How well it works or not is up to the user to determine. Vibroplex told me I should get "months" of use on a single charge but I was seeing maybe 3 days of intermittent use. Emails about this to the tuner manufacturer and Vibroplex went unanswered. I was not satisfied and returned it for a refund. YMMV.

SOTA tuner or MFJ 16010 - no batteries

Re: Tuner for tx500

Mat-705 doesnt have latching relays and must stay on ?and drain battery.
I wasnt happy with mine and sold it.

Re: Tuner for tx500

I've been using the Elecraft T1 for a couple of years now on many different antennas. No issues at all and still on the first battery.

The MAT-10 is very good. I prefer the T1.

Interested in the mAT-10 myself (for use with the TX500), so would be interested in comments on this one too.

They are when the tuner is on. It has latching relays so you can turn it off after tuning and it retains its settings. Used this way,?the battery lasts indefinitely. I charge mine out of caution but have never run it dead.
