Loose AF Gain & RIT Knobs

Does anyone have a solution to prevent these rubber knobs from falling off? ?I lost one on a SOTA activation a while back. ?It was too cold and windy for a productive search in the snow and rocks! ?John has graciously sent me one from Reno and I would like to make sure I don't lose any again. ?The ideal solution would keep it on during cold summit activations but allow removal without damage if necessary to open the rig up at some point in the future. ?I've heard some folks recommend loctite or hair spray. ?Any thoughts / experience?

Many thanks,

Mike

Do we know what bug fixes were done in the v1.15.09 version and anyone have any issues after updating Radio?

Re: My TX-500 Pulls Through For Me

fb, om! (have tried to get you a couple times while /p for a POTA contact using your designed key)... i have found the same benefit of the tx-500: robust finals... last rig i had that could easily handle 3:1 or greater was my sgc sg-2020, which had 20W out on 40w finals (rig could also double as a wheel chock if you got a flat tire)

i can run my tx-500 on my poor ham's tactical delta loop on 20 and 40 with no tuner!

:-)

My TX-500 Pulls Through For Me

Today I did an activation with a new antenna.
it is a 40-20 efhw with a loading coil.?

I built it and tuned it up at home. It had an SWR on 40 of 1.4:1 and 1.0:1 on 20 meters.
When I hung it in the woods today, I was surprised that the SWR was 4.4:1 on 40m. On 20m it was 1.0:1.
I had never had this happen before but even with the high SWR on 40m I was able to get about 3 watts cw out with the power set at 60%.
So I was able to make plenty of 40m contacts. I was surprised that the TX-500 still put out 3 watts and no harm was done.
I am continually amazed by this radio.?
¡®I don¡¯t plan on repeating this as I am sure it is not a good practice but in a pinch it pulled through.
¡®Now to figure out what the issue is with my antenna.

Looks like that is correct. Go to link for info.
EDIT: It appears to contain LiPo but was hoping it would be LiFePO4.
I just confirmed that the diy599 BAT-500 battery pack will use LiFePO4 and can power both TX-500 and PA-500.

Re: Official Battery Pack BP-500

Joshua,

Your maximum tx power is 10w, no more and no less at all voltages from 9v to 15v? Not just 8w or 9w?Are you sure? Is it nice clean transmit at 10w and 9v?

Re: Official Battery Pack BP-500

Can anyone confirm if the BP-500 will use 18650 LiPo or LiFePO4?

Re: New Firmware #firmware

All,
From Roman (Lab599 Support Team) this morning.
"The battery pack for the TX-500 transceiver is now in production and we hope it will be available for purchase in your area soon."
My area being the USA.
I talked to HRO Just now, Atlanta Location, they have not heard from Lab599 about the battery. I am hoping it will be very soon!

Thomas, I get full output from the rig down to 9V input. Tested scientifically but I see no drop in power when running my external LiPo battery down.

Re: Official Battery Pack BP-500

I would like to know what the price will be in US dollars. I will buy one.

Re: Official Battery Pack BP-500

Do we know what voltage the pack supplied to the rig? Will this get us full TX power from the rig or something a little less due to low voltage??

Hi Darren,

I just saw this, along with the firmware update,?and thought I let others know.
I'm not connected in any way with Lab599, apart of using their nice radio.

I also don't plan to buy this battery pack in the near future, since my existing solution works perfectly fine for me.

May I propose you ask Lab599 or Desert Wireless directly and post your information in this group?

Re: Official Battery Pack BP-500

waiting for HRO pre-order... gonna get two!

looks like direct solar panel input into the pack for charging? boy howdy, that would be sweet - yeehaw!

Re: Official Battery Pack BP-500

I will be interested to get information about availability of the BP-500 for the USA.?

I'm on a waiting list for the diy599 PA. Oliver designed a battery pack using 18650's that will power the TX-500 and PA together. I would prefer the Lab599 battery pack and will get a separate battery pack (eg. Bioenno) for the PA. I prefer LiFePO4 but understand the choice of LiPo for weight reduction.
