You're better off getting a key like the BaMaKey TP-III. I attach mine to clipboard by using one of those adhesive backed metal discs that are used for attaching mobile phone to a magnet mount. The magnets on the key attached really securely to this. Could also stick one on desk.

Can someone who has the Lab599 CW-500 paddle tell me if it must be operated in a fixed position (ie. in the same plane as the radio)? If so, then I guess it means that the radio would need to be operated horizontally or on a flat surface. I was wondering if there is a way to rotate the key when attached to the radio, so the radio could be tilted with the kickstands while operating.
