Kent: Some time ago I sent a copy of my book "Exiled to Siberia" (a
biography of a friend of mine deported as a child together with the detailed
history of the deportations) to the history chanel without a response. Since
then Jagna has developed her video and a friend of mine, Mark Wolski, a
video slide presentation on the subject. Mark has journalism and TV
experience. What we need is a personal contact with whom one could discuss
the subject and its possibilities. Any ideas?

To include perhaps tales of a US troopship filled with women and
children going to Los Angeles and perhaps some analysis why the USA
wouldn't take refugees but Mexico did.

Seems this list could come up with a script storyboard that would
prove quite interesting.

Re: Norman Davies

Dr. Herght

Jagna: We met in Detroit when you presented your video, and we exchanged one
of your copies for my book "Exiled to Siberia." I hope you enjoyed it. I
believe it is a valid addition to your video as it outlines the pertinent
history underlying the deportations besides the biography of my friend. You
may be interested to know that another of my friends, Mark Wolski, has
developed a very moving and very exact slide presentation on the subject of
the deportations. He and I gave a talk together last May. He is at present
in the UK and I hope you could perhaps link up.
Now to my request: In you message of 10/11 you spoke of a number of British
universities and historical societies and below you speak of some person in
France as well as about your contact with Norman Davies. Not only would I
like to, but also I believe it is in the spirit of our efforts, to send some
complimentary copies of my book to Norman Davies, the person in France, as
well as to a number of university contacts in the UK. Could you, please,
provide my with names and mailing addresses.
Here in the US a number of people mention the history chanel. Quite some
time ago I had sent a copy of my book to them, but if there would be a
personal contact it could be worthwhile, in particular in combination of
your video. Any ideas? Mark Wolski's presentation would be another source.
What do you think?

Subject: [Kresy-Siberia] Norman Davies

Hi Stefan, George, Robert, and anyone involved in the memorial/museum
project.
I took courage in my hands and called Norman Davies - and he is
ON!!! Didn't get our mail, but I explained everything, and he is happy to
join forces. The only thing we must be careful of is not to make him work
for it - rather use his name, and then, when the time comes, use him for
speeches and publicity. He is very much an impractical academic and would
hate any idea of being involved in money raising, etc.
Please, send him another e-mail, maybe preceeding it with smg like: we are
so excited, having heard from Jagna, etc,etc...
And here is another thing, which I find difficult to keep to myself. My
friend asked me for a French version of the Odyssey, for a Paris publisher
for whom she is working. He is very famous, very well connected, very rich -
and at the age of 60 +
is looking for a worthy cause to support. And, believe it or not, his idee
fix is... the first in the Western world museum to the victims of Soviet
oppression!!! When he heard from Ania of our story, he asked for the film
(wanted it NOW) and a meeting over X-mas holidays, so that we can start
plotting - he obviously needs more knowledge on the subject, his approach is
mainly emotional - so the Polish story can be a sort of 'introduction' (his
other link with Poland is his adopted children). Best of all, Norman Davies
agreed to be the patron of the museum as well! At a discussion with
politicians at the Im.War Museum, at the Odyssey premiere, he told a story
of his failed attempt to attract attention of his fellow academics to the
Soviet attrocities. All his efforts were in vain - almost no one came to a
meeting with a few Russian dissidents, former inmates of the Gulag. So, he
too has a 'bee in his bonet' on this subject - but being almost the only
British historian who had enough integrity to point out the injustice of
closing the eyes to the Soviet crimes, he is quite disliked amongst the
British academia - so I am a bit sceptical about George's optimism as to the
'power' of his name. But let's try.
On second thoughts, as he is so old fashioned, maybe it is better to write
him a letter?
Good luck,
Jagna

I doubt he would be happier there. German legislation
on matters such as Zundel likes to propound are much
more severe than what Canada has.

Not that I agree with the Canadian legislation. I
think it is selectively applied, and is an unneessary
curtailment of freedom of expression.
I don't believe people should be put in jail for

Dear Kresy-Siberia Members,
My husband posted 50 photographs in the Cierpilowski album under
Kresy-Siberia Members' Albums. The pictures were taken by a number of
different individuals in Karachi during the Christmases of 1943 and 1944,
and they actually come from the album of a nurse now in her mid 90's by the
name of Florence Polce. She was stationed at a rehabilitation hospital near
Karachi. During the Christmas season the nurses made Christmas stockings
for the Polish refugee children in the camp in Karachi and filled them with
whatever goodies they could scrounge. I will be revising the description
which is now posted with the album to include a little more information.
We are happy to be a part of this noble endeavor of research,
remembrance, and recognition of those who suffered and lost so much.

Sincerely,

Good Morning from the Zundelsite:

Will all this make a difference? In a dictatorship it won't.

Consider this: in a normal bail hearing, where there has been a

voting public could be asked in poll after poll after poll:

"Is it okay with you if I, a naturalized citizen who has survived
four dictators, now trade your hard-won freedom of speech to the
Kanadian Kommissars? I have fought for the Zundelsite since 1996 -
most of the time, alone! They want my American website. I want my
husband back. If it's okay with you, why should I care? If it is
not okay with you, here is the dotted line. I need 6 million
signatures to send those neo-Kommies packing."

That is one way. I can think of a few others.

A Six Million Dimes Drive to launch a public action suit to get the
Holocaust out of our schools? I am a child psychologist - I am
willing to put myself right in the line of fire and ask: "Just what,
exactly, IS the Holocaust? History? Or Dogma? I say it's child
abuse! If it is history, it must be scrutinized, like any other
claim in history. If it is dogma, it has no place in public schools.
If it is child abuse, what parent would allow it? Let's put all the
facts on the table, once and for all!"

A chain made out of six million queston marks for photo ops such as a
Wrap-Around-the-White-House?

Six million postcards, perhaps, for Nervous Nellies to distribute on
the sly that ask the simple question: "Why?" (
)

We'll see.

Meanwhile, here's something where you can participate if you live in
or near Toronto:

CANADIAN ASSOCIATION FOR FREE EXPRESSION

FREE ERNST ZUNDEL RALLY!

Nov 23, 2003
2 PM

Metro West Detention Center
111 Disco Rd
Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

Ernst Zundel is a political prisoner being persecuted and prosecuted for no
crime other than expressing his views on the Second World War. At the
behest of the powerful and vindictive Holocaust Lobby, Mr. Zundel is being
held, without bail, in solitary confinement at the Metro West Detention
Center. He is being treated worse than a common criminal, denied even the
basic amenities provided to other prisoners.

In surreptitious, Star Chamber hearings, held behind closed doors, the
Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS), relying on the questionable
testimony of highly-politicized government agents, concluded that Mr.
Zundel - an avowed pacifist - is a "security threat
to Canada." Mr. Zundel was not allowed to attend, or present evidence in
his own defense at these secretive proceedings. He has been denied the
right to face his accusers and their accusations.

Mr. Zundel came to Canada in 1958 and by any standards, was the model
immigrant and citizen, first putting himself through university in Montreal
and later becoming Canada's premiere graphic artist. His artistry graced
the covers of Canada's top national magazine and his
paintings - which invariably reflect his pacifist, nonviolent philosophy -
adorn the walls of some of the finest homes in the country. In his
profession, he provided meaningful employment to countless Canadians, both
young and not-so-young. Literally thousands of people - of every
race, color and creed - are proud to call Ernst Zundel their dear friend.

Ernst Zundel has never been convicted of any crime in Canada. His only
"crime" is a passionate defense of freedom of speech - the right to defend
his own German people against the libelous accusations of a very vocal and
powerful lobby. For his noble efforts, he has been beaten, bombed,
slandered and even thrown in jail by a shameful system, all too willing to
do the bidding of these special interest groups.

For over ten years, Ernst Zundel defended the rights of Canadians to
freedom of speech, even taking the battle to the Supreme Court of Canada,
where he ultimately won a victory for all Canadians in 1992, with the
abolition of the archaic, "False News" law.

Now Ernst Zundel needs YOUR help. Show the world that his fight for the
right of free expression was not in vain. Join freedom-loving people in
defense of our rapidly-eroding rights.

First they came for Ernst Zundel and I did not speak out because I was not
German.

Then they came for . . .

Hello Everyone,

I hate to be a spoiler, but I don't know anything about Ernst Zundel, but as
I read their website it just made me wonder what their connection is to our
group? Should we be rallying for them?
