I'd be surprised as well.
But let's look at this in context. Ethnic Ukrainians,
Germans, and Lithuanians in the Polish Corps would
have suffered some unpleasant incidents as well.
As badly as Jews might have been treated in Poland
pre-WWII, it's nothing compared to what was done to
Ukrainians over the decades.
It was a nasty part of the world where ethnic
relations were concerned. Let's not apply North
American ethnic diversity standards to pre-WWII
Poland.
