Thanks for your advice. I shall try phoning this week and see how I
go. I don't know if this is a new procedure or not, but they now
require copies of death certificates to prove that you are the next
of kin. Strangely enough, I actually have my grandfather's death
certificate (one of the many peculiar things I took with me when I
packed up and left Australia five years ago) so that's no problem but
I think my father is still alive. Anyway, will make a phone call and
let you know how I get on.
Also, some time ago I wrote on this site about contacting the Swiss
Military Academy re. my father's time in Switzerland. I received an
email from the head of the history department who said he does recall
this part of miltary history in Switzerland (the Polish
soldiers/students who were interned there) but will need to delve
into the archives to retrieve more accurate info. So....still waiting
for this info but at least it's a start and it is exciting (for me)
to find someone out there who actually might know something about
this part of my father's life.
