Hello,
I recently purchased a TS-2000X with a known defective serial port. I replaced the failed serial port driver chip and was able to communicate with the radio and update the firmware.
A few days ago I located a VS-3 voice synthesizer module and installed it, but I couldn't get it to work. All that it did when pressing the PF key (programmed for VOICE1) was to produce a single beep. No voice whatsoever. I reset the radio, checked and rechecked the menu settings for PF assignment and voice level, but it still didn't work. I could program to PF key for other functions and the key worked as it should.
I was able to return the VS-3, presuming it was defective, and got a brand new one, but it does exactly the same thing.
The VS-3 connector looks fine, and every other function of the radio that I have tested is working. I do not have the DRU-3A voice recorder module installed (I understand that they share some of the same digital lines).
Any ideas are very much appreciated!
