HT whip antenna

Maybe out of context of this group but I'm looking for some intelligent answers.
Anyone know of a "good" whip for HT use? ?Dual band would be nice, but better yet a triband better. ?I' tried a few models from Diamond, Comet and some "white box" ones from China. However the return loss is poor to unusable in the area of 8 ~ 0 db respectively. I have more results on the web site, but don't wanna bore the readers.?

4 pin power cord and gender changer for sale

I have for sale 2 items for the Kenwood TS480/590? ( and a few other radios).
?
1. 4 pin power cord used in most modern HF radios. 6 feet long, spade type fuses in both lines. Each line consists of 2 cables, for a total of 4 cables. Handled 100 watt radios with no problem.?
?
2.? Several Kenwood radios use a male DB-9 connector for computer control. Many of the USB to serial cables you buy off of ebay or Amazon have a male DB-9 on the one end. So here is your solution! I have a DB-9 female to female gender changer plug. Insert one end into the male connector on your rig, and now you have a female DB-9 connector to plug your cable into. Great for CAT control of your radio.??
This one is 2 to 3 inches long, made out of hard plastic, and built like a tank. It should hold up very well.?

I am asking $22 shipped for both. I can take paypal/check/MO/cash/cashapp.

Kenwood TS-570S SSB, AM Reception problem

Hello group,
Nice forum here, for sure. I have a strange issue with one of my TS-570S transceivers that exhibited low sensitivity when first turned on with SSB LSB/USB and AM. CW reception and transmission is not effected. The SSB and AM is almost perceptible, and once it warms up, it would work fairly well again. Now it's become a permanent problem, with only CW functioning properly. I am thinking a mixer issue, and most likely a leaky capacitor. Just wondering if there is someone on the group here who's had this problem and how to track it down.
Thanks!
Dave NS8S

Remote PTT for TS-870S

I'd like to use a foot switch to control PTT on this rig. What's the best connector to use on the rear panel?
?
Can I use the KEY jack if I'm operating SSB?
?

When you indicated you had "rolled your own", I figured you answered your own question.

I cannot see how swapping batteries is more convenient, but I cannot speak for how you view the situation obviously. I just know my truck has both a cigarette lighter AND a DC to AC inverter, and there are several ways to keep the TH-F6A topped off in most all vehicles.
?
I think that perhaps you could write the people at DX Engineering and ask what happened to them, or KENWOOD/JVC USA and UK, and raise the question. Couldn't hurt.

Re: BT-13

I don't claim to know your usage / want scenario. Seems like the pack you are asking about may be discontinued. You could write Kenwood in the US and UK and ask if any authorized dealers here or in the UK have what you are looking for.
?
Is the issue air travel with Li-ION battery packs? Camping? Hiking?
?
FWIW: Batteries America sells a 4000mAh cell, the PB-42XL.
?
They also sell an "eliminator" which can be used with 12-24V supply and might provide flexibility depending on what you are trying to accomplish. (Use in the car or off the car battery)?
?
And as we know, there are many TH-F6A aftermarket batteries on ebay.?
?
I know little about this, but thinking out loud, I would imagine one of the options above would be superior to 4x AA cells in an enclosure because the voltage would be higher, as well as the current rating of the supply. I'm also thinking the discharge curve of one of these replacements would be superior to that of an alkaline cell arrangement.?
?
Your other option would be to roll-your-own
?

Re: nxr-1700 DMR set up

Unless that repeater had the Network option installed when ordered it is not functional, it is an option.? I believe at this time that function is only for NXDN.?

Re: nxr-1700 DMR set up

The process to connect to Brandmeister should be 'similar' to connecting a XPR8300 or XPR8400 to Brandmeister.
You need to get an account for a repeater and the it's repeater ID on Brandmeister.
You need to get a "Master Server" assigned to you from the Bandmaster folks

You can then connect to the Master Server by it's IP address and your password for the account you setup the same way you would for a XPR8400
The fields in the programing software for 'IP CONNECT' should have synonyms for the same thing.?
