IC-705 USB Sound No Worky #PI4

Hi guys,
Just installed BAP on a Pi4B alongside my IC-705.
I am able to get everything to work (Conky, GPS, FLRig, etc)
EXCEPT anything that requires a soundcard...FLDigi or WJST-X, etc.
The only options I have to choose from in the Soundcard menu are Default and Pulse; none of which output any sound on the air. (Radio keys, but no sound)
To test, I've installed FLRig, FLDigi and WJST on my Latte Panda Win10 board and all programs work as expected.

Any thoughts on the RPi4 USB Sound?

from FLRig, are you able to tune? when you press PTT does it key the radio?? If yes then you just need to set up your different digital protocols to interface with flrig and flrig will control the radio. But, if you are using a glonass gps dongle, you need to go into the gpsd file and change autostart from true to false then control x, y and, enter to exit and save.?
I had an issue in the beginning of my pi build, the gps dongle was creating a conflict and, it grabbed the usb port and would not release them.?
besides, the 705 has a built in gps, you don't need the dongle.

Thanks for the reply, Dean.
To answer your questions, yes I am able to fully control the rig via FLRig. Tune, PTT, etc.
Native GPS on the 705 works and is being pulled properly for Conky.
The only issue is when I transmit in FLDigi using FLRig, I get no sound output over the air. I can hear the sound output through my speakers built-in to the monitor, but nothing through the radio or on the waterfall.
I've verified this with a shortwave receiver along with the built-in TX/RX record function in the radio.
What I have seen in others installations is the different sound card options that I don't have. Others show a USB Audio option that I don't seem to have. (I do have this option in my windows installation, but not on the Pi)
All that I have is Pulse and Default options to select. Both of which don't output any sound over the air.

Jason gave me this advice when troubleshooting the signal link sound card. Double check the volume of the 705 on the pi is set to 100%. run "alsamixer" from the command line. F6 to select the sound card. arrow keys to make changes.

Not sure if it will apply here.?

What sound card do you have selected in WSJT-X? ??

For my 705 I selected the following which work for me:
alas_input_usb-Burr-Brown...
alas_outpot_usb-Burr-Brown...

Also, I've heard of other folks having issues with poor quality USB cables, so you may want to look and or try a different one.

Thanks, Joe.
I'll give it a whirl.

Thanks for all of the help and advice guys.?

I was able to get it working. My default sound output in raspi-config was set to my HDMI monitor speakers. Once I selected USB AUDIO I was able to select the default sound card options in FLDigi, WJST and JT8Call and now when transmitting, I get action on the waterfall.?

I have something similar going on, but using a Signalink souncard. In raspy-config I don't see an option for default sound source of USB.
I see only HDMI or 3.5mm jack. Any ideas?

Right click on the speaker icon in the top right corner of the desktop. Then select the default sound card. A check mark will be beside the one selected.

Not an option. My only choice is Volume control settings. That produces a window that has Audio Card as a drop down menu. But any choice I make there does not stay. I see USB AUDIO CODEC, but it disappears when I open the window again. Is this a Pulse Audio problem?

I¡¯m using the IC-705 and Build-a-pi. ?If you have a high quality data cable, you should not need the signalink. ?I¡¯m using the RT systems USB data cable for the 705 and it works great. ?For Flrig, I¡¯m using the ports by-Id. If00 and if02. ?

The above setup may simplify it for you. ?the RT Systems data cable is about $10.

My problem is only similar to the main issue of this thread. I am running a Signalink to an Icom 7600.
Don't want to mislead, no 705 here, unlike Jason. ?:-)
