DUDEstar for DMR on a pi4B

Hello Jason,

Have you tried building/using DUDEstar, for DMR, on a Pi4B?? I am building it on an atomic pi as I type, but the Pi4B/8G will be next, and I am interested in your thoughts.? I have only come across builds on x86 Linux, and the Windows build is available on github, but the Windows version is stated as being unsupported (compared to the Linux version).? Perhaps it is about time to have a go with an arm processor on our favorite, the Pi4B??

I haven't and don't own any DMR radios currently. DMR is not a rabbit hole I have ran down yet.

Until the budget builds up,? I am exploring DMR without the radio, for now, by connecting to other radios around the world, in hundreds of subject or geographic based talk groups, to monitor or to participate, or so I hope to in a day or two.? DUDEstar is the only ticket I know of to DMR without the radio, for now, and might be the only amateur radio mode possible from a location that restricts any RF other than standard wifi, if that is available.? That is skill and knowledge and capability I'd like to explore, as long as the internet is up.? And if we can then get DUDEstar to work on a Pi4B, even better!? Another amateur radio skill and capability even if the RF is all at the destination.? :-)

Let's get right to it.
Thank you for all your tutorials, scripts, and videos!
I used a build-a-pi v3 with RTC, and GPS (time standard) and G90, for ft8 on field day 2021

Glad you found the videos helpful. I may look at DUDEstar in the future but it isn't on my current project list.

Fyi there is a program for Android that's called Droidstar that allows you to make DMR contacts with just a cell or tablet.? It's really a nice app.

Thank you all for the info and the links.

I've looked into these during my research, and it is very good that they are now mentioned and linked here for others as well.? If you have any experience and performance reports with these solutions, please feel free to email to radioks70 at the big email place that begins with the letter that comes after F, dot com.? I don't want to grow the topic here too much respecting that Jason has made it clear that it is not on his projects list at this time (unless he encourages further posts here on the subject, particularly if a DMR project involves a raspberry Pi, since the Pi is a popular subject here for amateur radio).? ?:-)

I'm giving Droid-star a second try tonight, but all towards an objective of a DMR solution on a Pi4B.? As of this past saturday, I now have my radioID and brandmeister activation.

I will be checking this page occasionally, and give an update if there is success on a Pi4B.

I don't mind the discussion being held here at all :-) Just not something that I plan to dive into soon. You guys are more than welcome to discuss it.

Thank you Jason.?

Droidstar now working here, and it helped me become familiar with the DMR systems and some settings.? I can now connect with other hams, on their DMR radios, if I am in an environment where RF devices are restricted (other than cellphones).? Expanding service capabilities.? Yesterday, I spoke with someone in the DMR Amsat talkgroup, hundreds of miles away, from my cell phone, in the car, and he on his radio, while I was waiting for a pizza for pickup, discussing some TLE orbital questions.? Ah, the excitement of the first few successful contacts with a new mode, and it utilizes , amateur radio, and several infrastructure technologies, for flexible service in a variety of circumstances, similar to echolink and winlink, amateur radio growing in communication science and art ready for service.? Now that I've gotten my feet wet, I'll look further into a build on a Pi.? With the Pi already having some versions of android available for it, that too might be a path to DMR on a Pi.? It in no way persuades me to sell my HF gear, and wire antennas, and soldering iron and 6L6 tubes.? Amateur radio offers so much variety? of knowledge to learn, and master, and creatively innovate, and through which to serve... and have some rewarding fun doing so.

Anyone using an android image/build, and android ham apps on a Pi successfully, in case the DUDEstar stubbornly refuses to build on arm?? I'm hoping, if the DUDEstar will build, that it is as simple as possible so it might be easily incorporated into Jason's BAP scripts, if he decides to do so.? But now I'm way ahead of myself.

Thoughts from anyone?
