I did a fresh installaton of Bullseye on a brand new out of the box P4b with a brand new rtc.? The BAP installed without any apparent error message.? I wasn't around the whole time the installation was proceeding.? GPS and all the chosen applications were installed. I still have to check that they all work.? I did see that RTC was not installed.? When I used the BAP update tool to re-install I got the error message that the i2c interface needed to be activated.? Well, it was activated.? I checked.? Just to be sure, I de-activated it, rebooted an activated it again.? Installing RTC I still got the same error message.? I did check RTC module using the command sudo i2cdetect -y 1.? It returned the expected "68."? I also tried different RTC modules, but got the same negative results.

I just went through this, the BAP script did not work so I followed the directions in and all is good.

Trouble!? I just rebooted my pi and ran hwclock -r. This is the
message that it returned:
@2pi:~ $ hwclock -r
hwclock: Cannot access the Hardware Clock via any
known method.
hwclock: Use the --verbose option to see the details
of our search for an access method.
Back to the drawing board.

Its used to prevent the system from thinking it's 1970, if your machine doesn't have a RTC on board. Pi saves the time occasionally then when it reboots, loads that time to avoid a number of issues.

Hi together, yesterday I build up a new system based on Bullseye and BAP 3.2.0 and on the 1st view it looks fine, but on the 2nd view there are several issues in the moment.
- the remote performance with VNC is quiet slower as with the old system
- CQRLOG is not included in the BAP app-list, so I installed it with the following script from the CQRLOG page: "sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ok2cqr/ppa;sudo apt-get update;sudo apt-get install cqrlog" With this I get it installed also with the menu entry in the HAM menu. After running the BAP script another time, the CQRLOG entry disappears in the HAM menu
- RIG control is installed without errors, running the BAP script again, I get this message: "rigctl: symbol lookup error: rigctl: undefined symbol: debugmsgsave"
- On several runs of the BAT script the script tells me HAMLIB needs update
- Every new run of the BAT script the script tells me CHIRP needs update at the end of the installation I get 0 actualized, 0 new installed
Positive is actually:
- the system temperature is about 5-6°C lower as on the old system
- GPS seems to get earlier a lock
My major points now is to get CQRLOG, wsjtx and js8call running and old data transferred from the old system to the new one. After this I will start to setup Direwolf, xastir, yast and Pat.? vy 73 de Klaus DC2JR

Build a Pi builds the latest version of hamlib from source. Installing CQRlog with apt also installs an old version of hamlib which causes a conflict with the version built from source. This is why you get the rigctl error. To combat this conflict, that was installed with apt. A side effect of this however is that CQRlog is also uninstalled.? As soon as I can figure out how to build CQRlog from source on Bullseye, I will add it back to BAP. ? --

Thanks for the information, so I will stay on BAP 3.1.3 on buster until cqrlog will be available with BAP 3.2.x ?as cqrlog is essential for me.
