vnc install

I've been watching your videos like crazy trying to learn as fast as I can. ?I can't load a vnc server on my pi 4. ?I created an account in realvnc.com, downloaded the server, and when I try to open, the computer says it's unauthorized. ?and it ask for my password which I've never changed from when I bought the pi. ?Name: pi, password: raspberry. ?Every time I try to open it tells me my password is incorrect. ?i'm lost here and could really use some help. ?And if someone answers this, please don't get too technical. ?I've only been doing this for a couple of months.

Thank you,
Bob, NO1PB

VNC is installed in RaspberryPiOS by default, just needs to be enabled in raspi-config:
sudo raspi-config
Interface Options
Would you like the VNC Server to be enabled?
Select Yes
Select OK
Select Finish
Reboot as needed.

Bob

I believe that after you creat your account you need to sign into it, then you can sign into your pi using the same credentials you would to sigin in locally. , I could be wrong though.

I guess I’m not understanding. ?The viewer was in the computer after I did the build a pi install. ?The only thing I can think of is to show you some screenshots of what I’m up against. ?Does anybody have time to call me instead text?

Thanks Kevin. I’ve gotten all the way to the Authenticate to VNC Server. Username name and password. ?What do they want? ?I’ve tried everything I know.

Sorry for the trouble, but very appreciative for the help,

Bob,

I'll do my best to explain this. The VNC viewer that was installed with BAP and accessed from the Pi menu is only used to access another machine on your network. If you want to access the Pi itself from another machine, you need to ignore VNC viewer on the Pi and only configure the VNC server. Then on another machine (not the Pi) you will install VNC viewer and use it to access the Pi though the network. Does that help?

I did understand that. ?The problem was an authentication problem. ?I went in and changed my password on the pi and that did the trick. ?I’m in! ?WooHoo ??
Thanks for your help. ?Now, back to the videos. ?Ultimately I’m trying to get digital operations in the field with my 891, singaLink, pi and an Android tablet. ?Thanks again.

Bob
look at your menu bar upper right corner you will see an icon that has vnc.
that lets you know? if vnc server is running. if not?go into?
Raspberry pi configuration interfaces select 3rd down vnc enable?
on the computer you are using to connect to pi? you need a vnc viewer
Running the viewer type in the ip address? for the pi then?connect might take a few minutes to respond?
a popup box asking to agree to passphrase?and key
then will login with user and password of the pi
