Deleting .ini file helped one time. Second start up? Black boxes in UI and program lock up. Appears to be a font issue. I'll keep digging. -- Tim Tyler I KI5OOS

Jim try lsusb in command prompt ¨C this should tell you what card / device your sound card is. You can adjust audio setting with alsamixer. Use F6 select your card, then F5 to adjust individual

Oh darn. There's something wrong with Wine. VarAC starts, displays a bunch of black boxes again, then locks up. Multiple restarts, and reboots. No joy. I have no clue what went wrong. -- Tim Tyler I

Reinstalled VarAC. Seems to be working correctly. At first run, COM33 was missing, so I shut down the program. Re-started, COM33 was back! Selected that port and all is well with program and CAT

Keep trying it should load don¡¯t set the Linux compatible ini setting - try closing it and load it again I normally have success. I wasn¡¯t aware of that font (tried it and did make any difference

Forgot to mention com port wine will auto assign them Google the topic is lengthy, but not too complicated you can investigate by looking in the .wine/dosdevices sniff the links
