Jim try lsusb in command prompt – this should tell you what card / device your sound card is. You can adjust audio setting with alsamixer. Use F6 select your card, then F5 to adjust individual

Reinstalled VarAC. Seems to be working correctly. At first run, COM33 was missing, so I shut down the program. Re-started, COM33 was back! Selected that port and all is well with program and CAT
