Re: PAT Questions
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýI do not have two radios hooked up at
this time.
My questions are more forward thinking
for possible setup.

What you are asking about is a more advanced setup. Are you using two sound cards and two radios connected to the pi at the same time? One for HF and the other for 2M?

Re: ARDOP not activating PTT
Kevin Scott
OK...? ?I upgraded Pat Menu using the Build-a-pi utility (I was running 2.2.0). I've not edited the PTT setting (thank you!).? One more question.? When I was looking at the PAT Menu settings, I noticed that there is a config file on my machine with you call sign as part of its name (891.km4ack.config).? When I examined the settings in that file, I noticed that in the "HF Mode for Radio" it has "PKTUSB" as the value".? The default config lists "USB" as its value.? On the 891, I have to set its mode to "Data-U" or "Data-L" in flrig (depending on 20M vs 40M) to have FT9 and JS8CALL work.? Should I leave the default as "USB" or do I also need "PKTUSB" as the value?
Thanks and sorry for the million questions... Kevin (K5AZZ) |
Re: This might be a dumb question.... (Build a Pi on Laptop?)
Thinking about it, you might have better luck than first thought. If you use the Debian distribution and all of the package installs (any apt or apt-get commands) use ¡°generic¡± package names that don¡¯t contain ¡°armhf¡± then you will be very close , if not fully successful.
I don¡¯t use Debian to be able to test but would be interested in the results of any attempts! Jay 73 de N0SR |
Re: This might be a dumb question.... (Build a Pi on Laptop?)
Jason I loaded your build a Pi on local ham laptop at our Saturday coffee break. I found that deirwolf.conf was missing in the home directory. Jim (va7shg) helped with getting ve7sjt running Pat Winlink, SSTV, and APRS on his laptop. When I did this I was?just starting to?play and learn about Build A Pi.? ?Our Saturday coffee break with our quarterly SSTV and now APRS messaging is getting the new ham and old hams to play with the PI and Linux. We had to modify our coffee break to meet in a park, outcomes the power pack, HT and PI's, and with our local Linux gurus point us to getting Build a PI question worked out.? This Conv19 thing really put a damper on our meeting at first.? I trust all of the hams are well and working around the restriction and the YouTube videos do help. Thank You for what you are doing for us old guy with bad eyes and arthritic hands 73 Don va7dgp/va7qu? Don Poaps

Thanks fro answering so quickly Jason.? Following your instructions, when I get to the "Manage PAT" window, there is no "Set ARDOP PTT" menu option.? There is:
Pat Login-Logout GPS Grid Update Set ARDOP Speed Delete Alias Backup Emails Restore Emails Backup Pat Config Restore Pat Config Neither "Set ARDOP Speed" or "Pat Login-Logout" have an option to "Set ARDOP PTT" |

Re: ARDOP not activating PTT
Assuming you are using the sabrent sound card or similar, open pat menu. Choose Manage Pat Winlink, and then choose Set ARDOP PTT. Change this value to TRUE. This will give you CAT PTT for the 891. If you are using a signalink or similar sound card with VOX, you shouldn't use this method.

ARDOP not activating PTT
Kevin Scott
I¡¯m running the latest pi-Build version and everything is working perfectly except Pat using ARDOP. ?When I initiate a Pat Auto connect, everything starts up and the script try¡¯s to connect to various stations, however as I watch flrig, I never see it keying the rig (FT-891). I¡¯ve looked in the Direwolf And Pat configs and all seems correct.
Can anyone suggest what else I should be looking at? |
Re: TNC-PI and Build a PI
Interested in your progress!
I have two Pi TNCs and need to get them going! One is the last of the TNC Pi's from?coastalworks? before they closed. The other is a $50 kit from Utah that works standalone or on a Pi. It almost works.? And then there is the sound modem approach without a TNC! ? I don't know which way to go It would be nice to get them going with Jason's build.? I have an idea it probably works without a TNC Help, advice appreciated! 73, Bo W4GHV since '54 |
Saving image to PC
Strange. Using the PC disk image program I found I had to create a blank file ?(backup.img) on the PC BEFORE running the program!
It would not let me create one. Once done, it did read the SD card and make an image OK. I'm thinking the easiest backup would be a 32gb thumb drive left in the Pi and doing a zipped backup to it with a cron job. I had difficulty using the normal SD copy utility. (wouldn't fit). I'm not a command line guy, but think I need to use gzip and dd to do it. Time for Google. Thanks again to Jason. 73, Bo W4GHV since '54 |

Build a Pi errors
Wow, I got a ton of errors, some in color, some not during install.?
But it finished and at comes up OK. I haven't started testing it. Is this normal? It's an amazing effort, hats off to Jason! When I make a minor change to my Pi's, I land up locking it up and have to re-flash and start over. Really enjoying learning Linux from Jason more than hamming it up with the software.? 73, Bo W4GHV since '54 |
PAT Questions
I have a couple of PAT questions.
1) What are the steps needs to start BOTH ARDOP for HF and DireWolf for 2m packet so the station can receive email at any time on both sides of frequency spectrum? 2) What are the commands to note which ( mheard ) statations are digipeaters and then introgate what stations the digipeaters hears? 3) Using results from #2 above, what are the commands / setting to send to a station I cannot hear but a share Digipeater does? 73s, Ed, KD9FRQ |
Re: Build-a-Pi v3 rc 6 Issues
Jason,
Another observation...and I think this was the ultimate cause. My rc6 kept toggling between auto hotspot connect and wifi. THat's why I kept loosing connection. Not sure why since my BAP2 didn't have this problem with the auto hotspot enabled. I disabled on BAP v3 and have no further issues. Jack-- Jack Haefner |
