Re: Conky and GPS on Build a Pi 3
I have the same GPS. Sitting in the window sill it sees some satellites but not enough to lock all the time. It's in a a north facing window in a house with a metal roof :/ so I'm not exactly giving it a good chance. It will occasionally lock on to enough satellites to give me a 3D fix. I need to move the Pi outside and test the GPS with better circumstances. This - http://qrp-labs.com/qlg1.html is hands down the best, most reliable GPS I've ever used. I have one sitting next to the GloNas and connected to my QRP Labs GPS discipline clock and it never loses lock. I've had one running 24/7 since Hans started selling them. Unfortunately come is 2-wire serial not USB. I'd have to look at the pins on the Atmega chip to see if it's using SPI. If it was maybe it could be adapted for the Pi. Re: New modem and Hotspot tools issue
Getting closer...
I read on an old thread about the modem radio channel select set to auto choose a channel for the wifi possibly causing issues. I set the router radio to a set channel and it seemed to hold for a while. Then it went back to the double arrows. I went and changed the channel on the router in its settings and that triggered the pi to reset the wifi connection and brought back the standard wifi logo and re-associated the pi with the router. Not sure what any of that means... |

Could this also be used for the Pi-APRS app?Not without modifying the Pi-APRS source code. Pi-APRS uses direwolf as the TNC. Since the radio has a hardware TNC, you wouldn't be able to use it along with direwolf. ? -- 73, de KM4ACK

Re: New modem and Hotspot tools issue
I’m afraid you may have some bad hardware. I bought a 4B as soon as it came out and the hdmi outputs flicker every few seconds. Seems to be a fairly common problem. You might check on the Raspberry Pi forums and see if there are others with the same problem.

I am one of those waiting for the merger (or the full WinLink port to Pi).
Our local ARES and State ARES "really like" the forms built in to WinLink.
I am focusing on the Pi because of the 12v power option and low consumption
rate when part of the overall Shack to Go package.
If you check out the PAT group, you can get sent the current Alpha test of
PAT with forms.

Jason, KM4ACK,
Yep, that is what I am trying to find : a full case with the power port and a top.
Thanks.?? I hope your one hour packing drill worked and you a good FD outing. I
was stuck at home due to the 'Rona.?? I was unknowing exposed (but protected)
and was asked by the local Health Dept. to stay at home for 14 days.

Re: TH-D74
I played around with this exact thing on Friday. I was able to get my radio connected to the Pi via Bluetooth, and I got it to send enough data to connect to the RMS Gateway. Once connected though, it would get hung up and sit there indefinitely.?
I followed this guide ?starting with the section axports file. You may choose to follow the full guide, but this is what I did to get the radio paired to the Raspberry Pi. I installed Blueman and connected via the icon from the menu bar rather than the command line. To install, run the following commands: sudo apt-get install bluetooth bluez bluemanAfter that installed and rebooted, there was a new Bluetooth icon on the menu bar. I connected the radio to the serial port, which I believe pops up as rfcomm0 once connected. From there, just follow the guide. From the Pat interface, you'll want to connect using AX25. Like I said though, I wasn't able to get any further than Pat confirming it had connected to the RMS Gateway. I don't know if it was something on my end or the other end. I'll have to play around with it some more. And you'll have to let us know if you have any success as well! |

Re: Sending Forms via Pat Winlink
This function is currently in development and hopefully will be merged into the main code soon. For now, you can use FLMSG to generate and export the forms. Then attached to an outgoing email. The downside to this method is the receiving station needs FLMSG installed to read the received message.
