Re: This might be a game changer for portable HAM

Hi Marty,

I was looking through some of the older posts for something else when I came across this pic.

What tablet and keyboard are you using here? Did they work well for you?

If that is your worst issue today, you are doing well...

Well, I feel dumb. ?Replaced battery and now seems to be working OK. ?

Re: Errors setting up Mobilinkd and SignaLink #yaesu #PI4 #aprs #pat-mail

I have both the SignalLink and the Mobilinkd TNC for ham radio, along with the Raspberry Pi 4.?

Good afternoon everyone,

I followed KM4ACK's tutorial on YouTube regarding 2M packet and I get an error?message from my Pi that states 'cannot find port wl2k in axports'. I am attempting to set up my Mobilinkd device for both WinLink and Xastir APRS. I can use Xastir with APRS on my Pi, but WinLink is no go. I am using a Baofeng radio for the Mobilinkd device and has been working fine with the APRS Droid application. I need some guidance as to where I am going wrong.

I have a Yaesu 891 on the way for use with my SignalLink device. I would like some guidance, as the "wl2k" in axports is incorrect.

Mike,

Did you use Build a Pi to build your current system? Did you install AX25?

FLRIG issues

I have FLRIG 1.40 installed via BAP on my RPi4.? I purchased an interface cable for my Kenwood TS-570D. When I attempt to connect to the radio I get a can't connect error message, however some of the controls work, namely? ATT and PRE. The communication params are set to the Kenwood specs: 96k and 1 stop bit. I hear a beep when I start the program.

There is no "set port' button, only a button marked "Update."? The drop down list there shows the FTDI usb connection.

I'm stumped as to where to go from here.

I am certainly wrong about a lot of things, but I don¡¯t think WinLink runs on a Pi.?
I thought the only program that was Pi able was Pat Winlink and Jason has a full
video on setting up Pat Winlink (or just Pat).

Re: slow, lagging wireless mouse

I experienced the same thing. I believe it is a power supply issue. I first had the same configuration that you descibe, Logitech mouse receiver plugged into Pi¡¯s USB 2 port. And experienced the same thing. I checked the mouse batteries and they were good, 1.7 volts each. Then I moved the Logitech bluetooth receiver to a powered USB hub and connected the hub to the Pi, again in a USB 2.0 slot. Everything has been working great since then.

I was ¡°introduced¡± to the Pi by KM4ACK¡¯s great BAP tool only a few months ago. In mid-June my main Windows 10 desktop went kaput (still haven¡¯t had time to dig into why) and I decided to replace the Windows machine with a spare Pi. So far it is fantastic, everything I need to do can be done on the Pi. I¡¯m learning Linux and having a grand old time.

Re: slow, lagging wireless mouse

Just had the same issue yesterday. Batteries were low. Replaced the AA in the mouse, and the 2 AAAs in the keyboard, back to normal...

slow, lagging wireless mouse

I recently set up my Raspberry Pi 8 gb into the Argon M2 case and overclock the pi to ?2GHz. ?It ran OK, but I started noticing that the mouse was becoming unresponsive and slow. ?The cursor would just stop even though I was still moving the mouse. ?Wait a few seconds and it would catch up. ?It might work OK for a minute or still be very sluggish. ? ?Even the keyboard was slow to respond. Both are Logitech wireless units. ?I thought it might be due to the overclocking so I set it back to the defautl value. ?Still same issue, but not as much with the keyboard. ?From internet searches, a fix proposed was to add usbhid.mousepoll=0 to the end of the /boot/cmdline.txt file. ?I did this, but the mouse is still sluggish. ?I even decreased the tracking speed in the mouse settings, but still no help. ?Has anyone had this issue before? The wireless mouse usb adapter is plugged into on of the USB2 ports. ?Thank you.

Not Exactly POTA

I dragged the Salvation Army EDS Grab and Go kit out to a local park today. It was certainly?hot out. I used that JPC-7 Vertical and ran JS8Call. I had a chat with VA4BEN in Manitoba and was picked up or at least heard. I only saw 1 other station k5eke I think. I tried to connect but we just didn't reach out to touch via RF.

For some reason, FLrig would not PTT the radio. I closed it and ran the IC 7100 cat through JS8Call. Next week I'll bring out the Xiegu G90 and try and get the KM4ACK end fed up and running. By myself, I can't get any height. I have one of those fishing rods. I'll buggie it to the picnic table lift the wire up and?see if that will work.

I'm not sure what the issues are I have with the Signalink sound. Friday as was at a fellow ham place and used his IC 7000 to listen as I tried JS8Call. The audio was not free-flowing like it normally was when I had an outdoor antenna. It was chirp-like. RF getting in?

Re: Windows 11 to run Android apps. Good or bad?

JP Tucson, AZ

Answer - simple! BAD!!!

Why?

Perhaps windows should concentrate on making windows programs work correctly - uh, first!

It's like still building an airplane while moving down the runway at 125 mph! Just dumb!

Power Cable Size

What size is the power port on the Makerfocus power board?

2.1 or 2.5mm?

Not on Makerfocus website.

Thank you in advance.

Re: BAP Pi 4 No internet

I know that I had to take my pi4 out of the case (it was metal) to get the wifi to work.? The metal case was cool and all but acted as a Faraday cage when it came to wifi.

Re: Is it possible to run Pi-Star Digital Voice Dashboard with Build-a-Pi

Quick answer is there is no support from either group likely to accomplish your goals as it would tread on licenses and project goals support and maintainability but I¡¯m just speaking my opinion is all.?

as for the read write file system I recommend reading the projects document or Google or look at that projects ?groups where this is covered fully. One site here?

as for your goal here is a jumpstart acquired via googling your same question?

Re: Is it possible to run Pi-Star Digital Voice Dashboard with Build-a-Pi

It's more than just a chmod.command. The Pi-star program itself changes everything to read only at least once a day.?

Even if BAP could be installed, as I mentioned prior the horsepower most likely will not be there.? We already know once you enable multiple masters and protocols the zero / 3b has trouble with decode/encode functions causing transition delays. ?

We also know that even a 4 can have decode issues with Ft8 and multiple streams. That¡¯s why we tune it and that¡¯s why sometimes messages are delayed just a bit. ?

Not saying either configuration is ¡°bad¡± I have both and my primary radio computer is a pi 4 running BAP.? Just saying that both of these running together most likely are going to not play nicely.?

Was unaware of the read only file system but that is just a chmod command ?
