Re: Problem with PAT and Direwolf
I¡¯m having issues as well connecting to Packet Winlink connected via a USB cable to an IC-705. ?I watched the Packet Winlink video. ?My Pat Winlink with ARDOP is working great. ?I¡¯m getting a Unable to establish connection to remote: No AX.25 Ports Configured.?Post a copy of your ax25 so we can see the edits. If you installed with BAP, there shouldn't be any edits to make to this file under normal circumstances. -- 73, de KM4ACK

Re: I think I have tried everything, but maybe not. Help!
I would likely agree with Marty on extending... especially if you're "seeing" satellites but not getting a lock. The U-BLOX7 dongles are pretty finnicky in my opinion *and* I also think Jason recommends a different GPS dongle now here (.
I use these extension cables from Amazon with my original U-BLOX7 dongles and haven't had an issue outside. Inside the house, it sometimes works but that depends on which window I set the dongle next to. (I'm not Not affiliated with sales on Amazon, but this is what I use) $7 for two extension cables or $13 for a new/different GPS dongle - it's your call, good luck. 73, KJ7WPN - Benjamin |

Flrig is changing frequencies. Direwolf does not show errors. I edited the ax25 to reflect the serial port used by-Id to control PTT. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Jim-K0JNR |
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýHi Tim A guess is that the step to trim the antenna line was not done, or something. I built my and skipped the tune step on purpose. I plan on using in my normal setup using my ZM2 tuner to use on all bands. I may find it doesn't work a planned but will wait to see. I haven't been able to get a chance to try it out yet. The fun in it all is the chance to play around with it. To me anyway. Marty kd8bj

Nice!? But out of curiosity, why did you need the tuner? Mine works perfectly on 40/20? without a tuner (haven't tried 15 or 10 but it should work there too). That's the beauty of the ended, tuner free!! :) |

¿ªÔÆÌåÓýHi A guess on my part is that maybe you will need to add a jumper USB cable to get the GPS out side of the case, maybe over the top and dangling.

Hi all,
GPS dongle works fine on my Surface 3 and other Windows computers. I tried to do some POTA yesterday with my new Go-Box. But the dongle can't seem to get a lock on the Pi-4. I watched the??video and did everything it said. Turned off the Bluetooth. Reinstalled the Pi image and reinstalled BAP. The Pi is seeing the dongle in the USB port and it sometimes sees a bunch of satellites but they are not solid (empty circles). Spent four hours on this yesterday. Help! |
Re: build-a-pi install command problem
Hey Al,
Don't just use the sudo command when something doesn't work without it. We need to understand why we are using sudo. As you learn more about Linux, you will come to understand when it is needed. BAP is not designed to be run as root which is what you are attempting to do when you use the sudo command. Now let's see if we can resolve the issue. With your pi up and running, open the terminal window and run the following command:
A quick explanation of what we are doing: git clone https://github.com/km4ack/pi-build.git - downloads the code $HOME/pi-build - tells the pi where to put the code (in the pi-build directory) && - is used to run multiple commands. In this case, download then execute the code. bash $HOME/pi-build/build-a-pi - tells the pi to use bash to run the build a pi script Make sure your username is still "pi". BAP doesn't work if you change the user name. Changing the hostname is OK. ?pi@raspberry ^^@^^^^^^^ user hostname One last thing, Linux is case sensitive & picky. See . Hope that helps clear things up! -- 73, de KM4ACK

question on the GPS update tool.
Sorry if this has already been covered I had a look but came up blank. |
build-a-pi install command problem
I'm a bit of a beginner in Linux - I have a Pi 4 with 2GB of memory and latest Pi OS. Tried running the build-a-pi install command line (in the home directory as stated on Github), first time got error msg saying it couldn't create a sub directory. Put sudo in front of the command line and this time it said it couldn't find the directory it created. When I checked, I found that it had created an unnamed directory in "home", and inside the unnamed one is another "home" with "pi/pi-build/" that the command line created. The command line I used is: git clone https://github.com/km4ack/pi-build.git \ $HOME/pi-build && bash $HOME/pi-build/build-a-pi?
Haven't been able to get any further - will also have to delete the unnamed directory and the second "home" directory that was created. |

Terry K4HNTThanks!!!? I changed my pat configure as you suggested and now PAT/Ardop/PTT works through FLRig on my FT-dx10. ?Made my first successful WinLink connection today to KL7RI on 40m.?
