Solar Data / Conky Install #bap

KE2YK

Edited

After updating .conkyrc with the 2 lines from solar-data.txt, the conky display wrongly increases the font size for the solar data compared to the setting i had for the Conky Display.
So to reset the Conky Display to my liking by running Conky-Prefs. When the Conky Display is refreshed, the modification I just made to .conkyrc is overlayed with an original copy which excludes the lines just added from solar-help.txt
Strange... Any suggestions!

Jason & Norrin,,
Jason: I don¡¯t have a case yet. I was using the Canakit case but the MakerFocus board adds too much height. MakerFocus ?sells one but it comes with a fan which is unneeded and looks too short to get it all in now. I¡¯m is a dusty environment at times so a case makes sense. Hopefully others have found something that works.?

Norrin: thanks for bringing up the center pole issue. I¡¯ll check it out when it arrives. Most likely Powerwerx would know. I¡¯ll let you know one way or the other.?

I am just curious what the results are if/when you get them. Thanks.

Also, Richard, I have always called it a barrel connector. I may be wrong, and that may not be the technical term for it, but it is a connector and it is shaped like a barrel. I have always heard it called that in casual conversation. I am unsure why your original question baffled anyone.

#gps #bap KM4ACK GPS Update Tool #gps #bap

K2PMD - Paul

First off, I want to say a huge thank you to Jason. Today, I was able to get the dongle working and I also got my Android phone to stream the GPS to the Pi. The interesting thing was after watching the video three times and writing all the code (and creating a cheat sheet), it didn't dawn on me to just try the GPS Update Tool. Voila! It worked perfectly the first time. Now I have two functional GPS strategies for the field.

Next, I want to try the Bluetooth option. Any instructions anywhere? If not, I am just going to lock them together and try using the Update Tool again. Anyway, I am having so much fun with this stuff. I don't know why I enjoy it so much but at 57 y.o., it's like self-care to me. (I have a stressful hospital job).?

One question: What is the advantage of creating a hotspot on the pi? I have just been using my phone's hotspot and my pi uses it as its wi-fi.?

Peace and Good,
Paul - K2PMD

I use FLRIG with JS8call BUT my rig is different.? Having had this same issue though, I would look at the sound card selected for the output in js8call.??

That said, Benjamin made a generous offer to compare his settings with yours since you do have the exact hardware.

Re: Can't get PAT to communicate with a station #pat-mail

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý

This does not sound like hardware to me, at least not on the surface.? A couple of things....

1.? Just to verify you are using PAT GUI?? Or the PAT Command line?
2.? Can you download from the RMS using Telnet?
3.? You are using ARDOP?
4.? If so, as Brian suggested, can you upload a log snippet of the connection and conversation from ARDOP??

Not an expert here by any stretch and it is hardware i do not use but I am happy to give it a once over.

Thanks,

Re: How to Resume a Failed Install

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý

I think Jason said previously, he played some tricks on the swap to expand it a good bit so BAP could install on a 3b and you are correct, the 3b maxes out at 1GB ram.? wsjtx at deep inspection will be interesting with 1GB, it may bog down on decode.

Hey Marty,

Well, if I can believe /proc/meminfo, I only have 1 GB of RAM and 1 GB of swap on this RPi3. However, after deleting the fldigi folder in the Downloads folder and rerunning BAP Update, the install completed successfully and fldigi installed. I'm not sure how it managed that but I watched mem usage as it was compiling and it never went above 50% used.

What cases are you guys using with your Pi3b WITH the makerfocus board ?
