73Linux and HSTools

Hi,?
?
I am new to this topic but I was not able to find HSTools in the latest BuiltaPI aka 73Linux.? I decided to refresh the install on my PI4 and I quicky discovered that that there is a new distribution called 73Linux. This is fine but, the key component HSTools seems to be missing. I have run the installation command just for the HSTools and then I manually added the HSTools to the menu. However, when there is no WiFi signal available the AP on the PI does not start automatically like it used to. Which turns the entire installation useless outside of the house.?
?
I wonder if I did something wrong or perhaps this is a "feature" or a bug.? Thank you for your help!

73 linux instal stalled at "old data directory will be saved at...." #73linux

Hello all.? I once used build a pi but it has been a while. Saw that 73 linux works on linux distros and figured I would load it onto a Lenovo 14W Gen2 running Mint.? Low end?laptop but should be more than enough to run 73.
?
Anyway. install was cranking along nicely until this screen appeared. I cannot get past it. Any ideas? I am fairly new to Linux and assuming it is something simple.
?
Thanks

Re: A new release of Raspberry Pi OS Wayland alternative?

add these two lines to .conkyrc in config section
out_to_x = false,
out_to_wayland = true,
?
per previous reply, leave gap_y = 10,

Re: A new release of Raspberry Pi OS Wayland alternative?

Thank you!

Re: A new release of Raspberry Pi OS Wayland alternative?

Change the value of gap_y = 10, to gap_y = 42 in .conkyrc
?

What's that got to do with this group?

New Raspberry Pi Display 2

Hi All! Im trying to build a 73Linux. Hardware is Pi 5, New Display touch 2, gps/glonas dongle.
The Display is 720 ¡Á 1280 Portrait but in software I can switch it to Landscape 1280 x 720.
I'm missing the lower part of the screen. It's a way to fix it?
Thanks in advance

Re: Conky issue on RPi 4 on Bookworm

Perhaps it's a bug with this version of conky? Here's a helpful thread:

pi@raspberrypi:~ $ apt search conky
Sorting... Done
Full Text Search... Done
conky/stable,now 1.18.3-1 all [installed]
? highly configurable system monitor (transitional package)
conky-all/stable,now 1.18.3-1 armhf [installed]
? highly configurable system monitor (all features enabled)
conky-cli/stable 1.18.3-1 armhf
? highly configurable system monitor (basic version)
conky-std/stable,now 1.18.3-1 armhf [residual-config]
? highly configurable system monitor (default version)

Whoops! Here's the screenshot. This is with "draw_outline = true,".

Conky issue on RPi 4 on Bookworm

Hello all!

I run several Pis with BAP. My main Pi 4 8gb is used mostly in the home shack for remote FT8 over VNC, as well as POTA. It's on Bullseye, and it's been super reliable. BAP/73Linux features are very valuable to me.

I'm building a new Pi to use with a new-to-me FT-891. As such, I've decided to try out Bookworm, and I'm having some issues.
?
So far, I've:
-installed the latest image of Raspberry Pi OS
-ran 73Linux for the items I want (conky and others)
-switched from Wayland to X11 so RealVNC works
-got RealVNC working the way I need (adjusted config.txt with a few minor lines of code to force a console size, and hdmi_force_hotplug to resolve fullscreen window sizing issues)
?
But Conky has been a real issue. With hdmi_force_hotplug=1 implemented, it's in the right spot, but it's basically just a black box, with no text. I've done some reading, and it seems it's a colour interpretation issue. I was able to edit .conkyrc to change one line to "draw_outline = true,", and I end up with the attached screenshot.
?
Any ideas how I can move forward to make Conky work properly? I mean, at least now it's usable... but barely.

Oh - Where did the option to change the temps to Celsius get moved to? It used to be in Conky-prefs, I don't see it now.
?
Thanks in advance!

Re: VARA in Dec2023 on a Pi

What is the state of installation scripts for VarAC on Pi 4 with 73Linux?? I believe Wayland was a problem earlier, but now that Raspberry has changed the graphics manager is that still a problem? Do I need to use 32-bit applications, or can I use 64-bit?
?
Ideally, I'm hoping to just run 73Linux update and have everything needed (Wine, etc.) installed, but not sure if that is the current state.

Re: #gps #73linux #rpi4b8gb #73linux #rpi4b8gb #gps

When in use, the RPi USB ports put out a lot of RF noise that interferes with GPS reception. If you use the slower (not blue) USB ports it is a little less noisy. If you use a long USB extension cable and get your GPS further away it helps. Even better is if you use your phone GPS with GPSD instead of a dongle. Not only will it work better, it's one less thing you have to take to the field.

It looks like zstd, the standard z compression system, is missing.

You will need to install it using what-ever 73 Linux tools are used to install packages.

Need help with APRSDroid

I ran into an issue ?and need some help, I am running this version of APRSdroid on a Revvl android tablet connected to an anytime at-5888uv. It¡¯s connected via a digirig mobile using a dev version of APRSdroid ?

? ?It connects fine and transmits with no issue. I confirmed with aprs.fi and with my PC connected to an ht. However it will not decode any packets. I confirmed that the anytime is receiving audio but the tablet does not decode it. I probably have an APRSdroid setting or setting configured wrong. Any advice would be much appreciated.?

Pi Weather Station 5-day forecast error

Hello. Anybody succeed in fixing the 403 error. I understand that the 7-day needs to change to a 5-day forecast. I tried to apply fixes per Elewin recommendations but did not work.

Anyone make the fix?
