Re: Bullseye boots up but ends up being a black screen

When I first installed Bullseye on a Pi, it didn¡¯t come with a GUI ¡ª it was command line only and then you could install any of a number of GUI packages. Granted, this was very close to the day when Bullseye 64 bit was officially released, so this may have changed now. But I had similar behavior of booting to a (almost) black screen, except for a little cursor at bottom left.

Other things to investigate are your /boot/config.txt settings, especially the HDMI options: read?
and?

Mine looks exactly the same:

Really strange - it should have an entry to point to
~/pi-build/update:

Sorry about resolution, don¡¯t know how to screenshot on the Pi.

Did you select HAMRADIO from the apps dropdown, scroll up to Build-A-Pi, then select Update-Tool?

GPS not working

Edited

Can I uninstall the gps setup and do it manually. I can't get it to work and I've tried different ones including one that works good on my linux mint setup and another pi4 radio setup

Didn't run pi-build from $HOME

I made the mistake of not downloading the pi-build to $HOME. I only installed a few tools like conky, I already had the FLDIGI, etc installed. The install went quick and was successful. I ran Conk-Prefs to change the size, but then conky failed to reappear. I tried creating a symbolic link to pi-build in $HOME, but that did not get conky running either after reboot. Is there a way to clean the pi-build environment to do a fresh install from the correct directory?

Thanks
Phil

Re: Buster not supported

Edited

I just use my pis for ham radio, and I feel they are perfect for that.? I've been running quad mode on a pi4 for years.? Fldigi, FSQ, gARIM and JS8 on a Buster pi4. It's not 100% perfect all the time but pretty close to it. Perfect would be to get VARA and vARIM working on the pi.? I now have both working on Linux Mint with crossover.

Had to switch displays.? ?Installing BAP now

Re: BAP on RasPi zero

Hi Bruce,

Any update on how FLDIGI is working on the Zero? I saw your videos on it and replicated the build. I got the latest BAP to install, it took about 8 hours. FLRIG, JS8, and WSJTX run fine. But FLDIGI uses all the swap space and I can't even get through the configuration wizard. I will try your suggested clocking modifications and see if there is any improvement.

Re: Buster not supported

I still run Buster..too many issues with Bullseye, IMHO. It doesn't work well with some non-ham stuff I use the Pi for.

Re: Using iPad as remote desktop?

I'm kind of a path-of-least-resistance Linux guy. At one point early on, VNC was giving me some static about the number of machines I had on it, or similar. I have two Linux Mint laptops, one windows laptop and one ios device. A fellow on a Linux forum suggested Nomachine and even at my low skill level, I've been using it almost daily since.

Bullseye boots up but ends up being a black screen

Edited

I've been using Buster on my pi4 and wanted to upgrade to Bullseye and install BAP.? Bullseye looks like its installing, but after awhile, nothing happens and it's a black screen.? Could it be my display?? I've switched hdmi ports but still nothing?? I've searched but I dont seem to find an answer.? Any help would be appreciated.?

TIA,
Pat

Re: Using iPad as remote desktop?

Kevin & Jason,

I know that my question was not really BAP related but there seemed to be a lot of chatter about RPi alternatives. Glad I found one ... BUT prefer BAP/RPi for my Go Box. Works great. In fact, I use it as a demo when I take my gear to the Ontario Science Center for my volunteer shift. Visitors can relate to email and (of late) internet system failures. Great attention grabber and from there I can bridge to demo'ing amateur radio general benefits.

As always, thanks for help/support.
