KX2 & flrig

I have flrig controlling my KX2 using the serial cable supplied with the radio. All functions work correctly- vfo, power etc. Everything is fine until I try to turn off the TX. Once the button is pressed on the flrig screen, the KX2 TX stays on for about a four count, then shuts off.

Has anyone else had this problem?

When I connect the KX2 directly to JS8 Call (without the use of flrig), everything works fine.

Thanks,

Ryan NN7M

When you say you are not getting the Pi showing up, do you mean a new SSID is not available? You will not be able to connect to 10.10.10.10 using VNC until you connect your device to the Pi hotspot and use the password you input during setup.

Also see htop

I like it because it shows the CPU usage of the 4 processors and RAM in a graphic display.

With the pi 3 and pi 4, none of the background processes should interfere with decodes. To see what's running, use the *top* command in a terminal window.

Re: CHIRP not updating, BAP 3.0.2

I had run BAP and included CHIRP to update.
I don't need CHIRP, but noticed the next time I BAP (to add something).
I "needed" to update CHIRP, again...
I copied this: (if it helps):
Checking Chirp

WARNING: python-future package is not available; chirp.drivers.tk8180 requires it

Jut ran one of the 2gb Pi4's, and same thing. No joy in updating CHIRP.

Re: CHIRP not updating, BAP 3.0.2

Just ran BAP, rebooted, and CHIRP still shows that it needs updating. I have 3 systems, just did one, but I can fire up the others if needed. The one that I just tried is a 4gb Pi4, the other 2 are 2gb Pi4's.

Hey Ron, that is a lot of questions. ?I¡¯ve noted in my research that hams like the Sabrent as it works separate from the computer or pi. ?It should not be transmitting any sounds from the computer. ?As for settings each rig is different. ?You¡¯d have to get ahold of someone with your radio and find out what works. ?I have a uBITX QRP rig. ?I check everything, max my volumes and control CAT in FT8call via my radio¡¯s volume knob. ?Other apps don¡¯t aren¡¯t as user ready. ?Hope this helps. ?It¡¯s all about experimentation and trial and error until you figure it out. ?Then don¡¯t forget the setting.

I also check the .asoundrc file and it shows the card 2 (USB device) being selected. Then I selected "default" for input and output under the audio tab in WSJTX and everything seems to work. I'm not running any other applications at this time. I have just a couple of questions.

Was the above approach the best way to set up audio?
Is there another approach that might provide better performance and reduce any potential latency?
Why are there settings for both Mic and Capture?? How do these relate to each other?
Is there any risk of the RPi generating some beeps or other audio that may end up getting transmitted?? If so, how can these be silenced?
Unrelated to audio - are there any background processes running on the RPi that can potentially disrupt decoding at times?? If so, can these be reduced in priority or suspended?

Thanks for your help!

Re: Best Audio Setup?

I don't believe I have pulse audio installed.? Would it provide any performance advantage or just increased flexibility and connectivity between aps?

I run the mic unchecked under the playback tab and checked under the recording tab. Can't give you a specific reason. This was what worked for me when I swapped to the Sabrent sound card.

In your audio settings for JS8call and WSJT-X, your soundcard shows up as alssa_input.usb-C-Media-...? ? ?My C-Media soundcard doesn't show up in the pull down menu but as I mentioned I just selected "default" and that seems to work fine.? Any idea why we have this difference in out setups?? The only reason I can come up with is that you were using an earlier version of Buster than I am and perhaps something has changed.??

Do you have pulse audio installed?

Re: #DIY #PI4 PI4 Hat idea. #PI4 #DIY

Strange. I just checked the URL Jeremy and received the same page error. I clicked the link yesterday and amazon item was displayed. Its a magnetic roof mount with GPS antenna and circuitry built into a circular case with a feedline that plugs into a PC. If you're familar with Garmin mobile GPS products you might have seen something similar to what Jason is describing.
