Remote desktop with sound; Any good options? #rpi

I enjoy build a pi and was looking to setup my sdr connected to the pi headless so I can remote into it from house or wherever to listen.? The issue is VNC wants a 5$ month subscription just for a single device to be able to use sound.? I also tried using remote desktop and running xrdp on the pi but the sound only comes out of the pi.. Regardless of settings for remote desktop I cannot get the sound to come out of the remote computer.? Anyone had any luck getting sound via remote desktop without paying the VNC subscription?

Re: Known Issues 64 Bit BAP

@km4ack:
Both VNCServer and VNCViewer are working on RPiOS-64. You need to install Viewer using Start, Preferences, Recommended Software. I am VNC'd into a Pi4-4GB running RPiOS 64 then VNC'd into another computer to enter this message.

Kevin -- KD9EFV

There is a 64 bit version available for gridtracker. A new issue ticket has been created so this can be addressed in the next version of BAP. https://github.com/km4ack/pi-build/issues/382

Re: Hardware Capture

You are running into this issue because you have multiple radios connected to the Pi at once. This might help

Been there.....done that. Don't feel bad. We all do it at least once. I once spent way too long trying to figure out why some software wouldn't decode. Once I connected the coax to the antenna, it decoded fine.

I ran into the same thing with Pat that had me stumped as well.
For Pat, I was able to build from source to overcome. In this case though, Gridtracker is already being built from source so it may need to be updated by the developer before it runs on 64 bit. Not sure but I made a note of it so I can try to get it working. /g/KM4ACK-Pi/message/7245

Re: What is the TQSL path for Gridtracker

To find the path to an executable file, you can run:
whereis (application)
In this case we can run:
whereis tqsl
which should return
/usr/local/bin/tqsl

Re: Hardware Capture

Thank you for your response. OK, that is part of the issue.? I have three items connected to the USB ports in the?RPi:
1. IC-9700 (internal soundcard)
2. IC-7300 (internal soundcard)
3. GPS

With those items plugged in, this is the response I get:

Pisugar 2 in conky dashboard?

I ordered the pi zero 2w and will experiment when it comes in. I also have the pisugar2 battery.

In their documentation they mention you can access the battery info via api.? How would I possibly display that into the conky dashboard?

The example they give is...

echo "get battery" | nc -q 0 /tmp/pisugar-server.sock
echo "get battery" | nc -U -q 0 127.0.0.1 8423

Re: RPi Hotspot not visible #HotSpot SSID #hotspot

Thank for your reply Jason. Initially I did drive away from my house but couldn't see the hotspot on my device. I have re installed a fresh image and your excellent BAP, switched off the home wifi and the hotspot now works fine.?
All is good.

Re: IC-705 RPI4 Bullseye JS8Call #IC-705

It has been my experience that using FLRig with my IC-705 is preferred, rather than using the radio directly from WSJT-X.?

Yes I know that it's a different program, but I found that the radio returns to regular voice mode after closing FLRig, and when I used WSJT-X directly, I always had to go back through the settings to change everything back to normal. I normally use my Raspberry Pi4 when doing digital, but once in a while, I hook it up to my MacBook Air to run. I get the same thing, using FLRig, there are no settings that are screwed up after closing. FLRig is the only part of FLSuite that I have used so far.

Just my experience, your experience may be different.

Re: VPN

You might also consider ufw (Uncomplicated Fire Wall) which is included in the Buster and Bullseye distributions and provides some basic firewall protection. It does not obfuscate your location like a VPN though, or encrypt communications.

Re: FLrig and JS8call

I turned off JS8CALL and FLRIG still has that Issue. I can not change frequencies. It goes directly to 7.078. It will not go to 20 m or other frequencies.

I did see vk2sky and ve4ss but I guess it's one way transmission.
