Re: PAT on a Pi with IC-705 error #pat

You have a couple of issues going on here. Do you have FLRIG running? Build a Pi is designed to use FLRIG for rig control. Did you install ARDOP & the ARDOP GUI?

I haven't started testing with the 64 bit OS yet but hope to get to it later this week. Currently Build a Pi only officially supports 32bit.

Re: Trouble with EFHW kit #efhw

Just build the KM4ACK EFHW today and threw it up in a tree, about 35 feet, sloping to ground. Put an SWR meter on it and found the lowest SWR I can get is 2.3 and that is at 6.8. I tried shortening the antenna by about two feet, wrapping the excess around the antenna. Almost no change in the SWR, still about 2.3 and that is at 6.9, Before I tear out the transformer and rewind it, could anyone suggest troubleshooting tips? Continuity checked out.
Thanks,
Phil, K3UT
Can you post a pic of your toroid please? If the dip is at 6.8/6.9, the wire is still too long. Extra length is shipped with each kit to allow for minor mistakes.

Re: Vara-fm

VARA isn't available for Pi OS yet. There are some guys trying to get it working with Pat so hopefully we will see that support added in the future.

Re: Yeasu ft2dr into a pi zero question?

You can use Pat Menu & Pat winlink for Winlink emails. For APRS, you will need to look at an application like APRX. Direwolf won't work with the Mobilinkd. Direwolf is a software TNC and the Mobilinkd is a hardware TNC.

PAT on a Pi with IC-705 error #pat

Running PT on a Pi 3B+ ... and an IC705 (with address set to 94h to match 7300).? Pi on wlan to home network with VNC to access Pi screen. Everything looks good up to trying to connect.? Always get this error message (with different dial frequencies depending upon selected station):
2:20 ic705 ready. Dial frequency is 3.595.00 MHz.
2022/02/13 20:42:20 Starting HTTP service (localhost:8080)...
2022/02/13 20:43:23 QSY failed: Unable to get rig frequency: read tcp 127.0.0.1:42802->127.0.0.1:4532: i/o timeout
2022/02/13 20:43:28 ARDOP TNC initialization failed: dial tcp [::1]:8515: connect: connection refused

Any ideas would be appreciated,

My 80m EFHW is 134' with 49:1 unun and I get about 1:2 SWR. Mine followed a different plan and I use a nanovna to measure its SWR. I have good SWR on all ham bands except 160 and 6 meters.

I created a new 64bit Bullseye install last night and ran BAP (3.2.2), I installed WSJT-X, GridTracker and Hamclock. WSJT-x configured and running fine, when I try to run GridTracker from menu I get the error in the attached image. I checked and the /home/pi/GridTracker directory exists and the GridTracker file in the directory is marked as executable, also see second attached image. I am stumped on this one.

Vara-fm

Will you be adding vara-fm to build-a-pi?
?Thanks?

Re: VARA on Winlink

I too purchased it for HF.? Maybe if enough of us cash paying customers let the developer know that we would like it for Linux he might listen??

Yeasu ft2dr into a pi zero question?

I've got a yaesu ft2dr and a mobilinkd on the way.? How would you think it's best to integrate into a pi zero w build of this?? Wanting to explore direwolf and the rest of the aprs and winlink world.? Any other special cables?

Thx,

Re: WiFi sensitivity w Bullseye?

Had this WiFi problem too. Found on internet this blog.?
Looks like a bug in the Argon design. I contacted Argon and they confirmed a WiFi problem and will send me?
replacement parts. Still in backorder...

Re: Created a Build a Pi SD card last night. Now I can't VNC into it today #bullseye #direwolf #conky

If you are using bullseye, in preferences, under headless, there is screen size. The default is none. Choose your screen size on the pi that you want to vnc into.

This ia a change fron buster. I stumbled upon it as I was trying to vnc into my pi's.?

Hello Dave

the user name should be just "pi" with a password of "raspberry"? unless to changed it when you VNC into where it asks for username and password there should be a box just below password the says remember

Hey Mike! Nice to catch you around again!

Thanks for the heads up. I'll suggest changing the SSID.

Re: User guide to start-up #ardop #pat-mail #direwolf

Hi Jason,
So, I am using a Yeasu FT-8800 for 2m and IC-7300 for HF.
I can receive packet info on the APRS frequency on my 2m with pat http and direwolf running.

For 2m, I open Direwolf and terminal window with pat http, then I go to browser and open localhost:8080
I don't know if I have a port number misrepresented somewhere.? I try to send using ax25 but it will not connect.
I will double check that I have AX25 installed.

For HF, I open ARDOPC and ARDOP GUI, I open terminal window and pat http.
Open browser and localhost:8080
I try to send using ARDOP, but it does not engage the radio.? I think I may have port number or something not correct for the Pi to talk to the radio.
FLDigi works just fine on the HF side.

I know it is going to be something simple that I am overlooking.

Thanks in advance.

Re: Heads-up for Canadian Miady battery

Chris ..... I have to get batteries for my chair as well ( there are two 55AH =)?? Which batteries did you use and do you use the battery charger that came with the chair ????? Thanks for your responce=)?? The chair really come in handy for Hamfest cruising :-)))

Hey Terry, I don't know what size batteries you use in your chair. However I got rid of my 2 heavy as fun! And replaced with liposuction. My chair will actually travel about 3 miles further with less weight. I then took two more of these lightweight batteries to make a radio pack with. I forget about them often on back of chair and have nearly caused a fire by crushing one of them when backed up out of way.
After that, I don't leave attached to chair unless actively using it.
The two Batts in chair were 12@55A, which make for great backup system in house with the yearly exchange on batteries.

Re: Hotspot Tools issue with home SSID

Hello Joseph,

I had an issue with my wifi when there was a space in the SSID. Seems like the Rpi wouldn't connect up. I do have other Rpi's at my house, but they are for non-ham things that don't use the Hotspot script.

All was fixed when I changed?my SSID and removed spaces.

Geeze! What is he up to now?

Hotspot Tools issue with home SSID

GA all

I don't have screencaps handy just now, but I can get them if needed.

When I open Hotspot Tools and select "Managae SSIDs", I might have two networks saved, but there will be four lines. One of the networks has three words with spaces separating them, and each word appears as a separate line.

Ideally, I'd like each network to appear as a separate line, no matter how many spaces are in one name.

It's my dad's network so I can't just go ahead and rename it without spaces.?

Has anyone noticed this before??

Thanks for everything you do for the hobby, Jason! I love the script and have been using it since V2.
