Re: Latest BAP? Bullseye Conky displays no gridsquare

David,

BAP for Bullseye is still beta but should be pushed as stable code today or tomorrow. For now, follow the directions in this post /g/KM4ACK-Pi/message/6457

BAP XGPS Python Cairo

I did find this download site

but did not find a 32-bit version for the pi os.

Latest BAP? Bullseye Conky displays no gridsquare

I installed Bullseye on a fresh sd card.? The only thing added was language configuration (German), Firefox and Thunderbird.? I then installed BAP from the github website.? I hope this is the most recent, stable version.? Anyway, the installation proceeded without any problems.? I have not tested all the apps.? But i did notice that conky was not displaying the gridsquare even though the GPS was running.? I checked it with a gps client.? This is of course apparently only a superficial problem.? I am unfortunately a little OCD.? Can someone help me out here (not with OCD, but with the gridsquare display)??

I also noticed that xgps does not work.? I got it to work on a previous pi by installing python-gi-cairo, but I can't seem to find it now. Any help here, too?

Thx!

Re: How tied to Ruby are you?

Interesting. I don't have that result. I get a 'blank' if there isn't any GPS anywhere in my network, but no lock up.
Please check out the latest documentation attached, with some modifications requested by Jason and others.

Re: How tied to Ruby are you?

I have tried Kevin's script on my test pi. Works fine when I have my IC705 connected using it's gps however the script locks up and kills conky when no gps is active.

Re: Question about how to save the config in buster version raspberry pi 4B I lost the configuration with every shutdown #ft818 #flrig #ft891 #ras #PI4

I have found that if you don't hit the 'OK' button before exiting the setup and
configuration of FlDigi, FlRig, and wsjt-x, your settings won't be saved at all.

Btw - any chance to add the original WSJT program into BAP? There are still

Re: EES Crontab not setup for BAP 3.2.0 and Bullseye

Jason,
Before you start your update of EES, I would like to put in a feature request. (Having EES reside in a subdirectory, either asking the user for the sub name or?
/var/www/html/ees This will make it much easier to run EES behind a Wordpress or phpBB front end.

I don¡¯t want to hijack this thread so I¡¯ll put in a feature request.

Another fix for screen resolution issues with Bullseye-Conky

If you upgrade to Bullseye you will likely notice that Conky is not comfortable on the right hand side of your VNC (and attached) monitor.? For some reason the screen size is changing randomly at boot time to a smaller screen even though the wallpaper keeps the full resolution.? You can also observe that the long dropdown menus don't expand like they should.? The menu thinks the screen is shorter than it is.

The fix I found was to do the following:
1.? Once booted, place the mouse over a blank area on the display and right click
2.? Select Desktop
3.? Set layout to "Centre image on screen"
4.? Click OK

You will still be running the new video subsystem which has it's own set of quirks right now.? One is a slow VNC connection and behavior from time to time, although once fully BAP built I have not noticed the sluggish VNC response.? It can be really bad on the initial setup from a clean install.

Jason has another option that removes the new video subsystem by editing the /boot/config.txt file.? Both seem to work.? His video for that can be found at:?

Re: EES Crontab not setup for BAP 3.2.0 and Bullseye

Thanks for the report Dave. This issue isn't specific to Bullseye. It can happen with any Pi OS version. Pat v 0.12.0 changed the location of the Pat Mailbox. I'll need to update the EES project to reflect the new location.

EES Crontab not setup for BAP 3.2.0 and Bullseye

I just refreshed my memory on how to run the EES and when I post an email, it never gets pushed to the PAT Outbox.

Snip from CRONTab:
#-----Start EES Server Options------
#Move EES email to Pat Winlink Outbox
*/1 * * * * /var/www/html/movetopat
?
#Auto post replies for EES server
#Default is off. Activate by removing # on line below
#*/1 * * * * /var/www/html/autopostreply
#Line below moves info.html to index.html when modified
*/1 * * * * /home/pi/bin/webcopy
#-----End EES Server Options------

It looks like it is enabled in CRONTab, if I read this right.? Also note there are two entries for Auto post replies for EES server.

Jason

Thanks for all

It would be possible to script it and then auto start either using a cron job or systemd but you would need to verify that the mobilinkd is turned on before booting the Pi. Feel free to use my script or modify it for your particular needs. If you have Pat Menu installed on your system, you will find the script locally at ~/patmenu2/mobilink

My script will auto start everything needed for a Winlink connection. You will need to modify if you plan to use it for APRS.

Re: How tied to Ruby are you?

I have followed these steps successfully with Build-A-Pi 3.1.3 on Bullseye

Re: Ultimate Pi upgrade to Bullseye

All data is stored in /home/pi directory - especially /home/pi/.config? and /home/pi/.local/share , /home/pi/.tqsl You can transfer the needed configs from old SD card to the new one.

Re: Ultimate Pi upgrade to Bullseye

I ended up creating a Bullseye SD card, booting from it, then doing a Raspberry Pi imager to the SDD.? I removed the SD card and rebooted off the SSD and started a complete rebuild.

I found this:??
that might allow for keeping the apps and settings.? I am interested if this is a good way to go in the future.
Thanks

Brilliant! I'll try this evening.

A tuned counterpoise will be more difficult as my EFHW transformer is by an upper floor window under the eave and with cold weather, not sure I want to get out there. Perhaps I need longer coax before the choke. Anyhow, I have at least a direction to investigate.

Not always but typically this is a symptom of Radio Frequency Interference. Try ferrite beads on all of the cables connected to the Pi and use as short of cables as possible. RFI drove me nuts a couple of years ago in a mobile install
