Re: WSJTX 2.4.0 abruptly closes

Reading through some of the hamlib github issues, I ran across this

Looks like you aren't the only one with the issue. Hopefully they get it resolved soon.

If I understand correctly, you don¡¯t need cell service for your phone¡¯s GPS to work. I think the GPS function is aided by a cell connection, but not necessary. My iPad does fine on GPS and it does not even have a SIM card in it.

Re: Thoughts on portable HDMI displays for POTA

I am playing with an old laptop screen and hdmi video board in a dry box.. still a work in progress.. the pi 400 has too many cords for my setup.. pi 4 and cordless keyboard/mouse ..? small enough to fit in case.. big enough for my old eyes

Re: Thoughts on portable HDMI displays for POTA

I agree on headgear .... use the Touchscreen HDMI Monitor 1920x1080 as the bare minimum resolution as a guide ( the 7" one I have was purchase when the R Pi3B+ just came out ..... purchased from a Chna online store that is no longer there =(

Re: DUDEstar for DMR on a pi4B

Fyi there is a program for Android that's called Droidstar that allows you to make DMR contacts with just a cell or tablet.? It's really a nice app.

Re: WSJTX 2.4.0 abruptly closes

Not sure what might be going on here. I am not a frequent user of FT8 but I fired it (2.4.0) up this morning and didn't have the same issues you did. Maybe try reinstalling.

Glad you found the videos helpful. I may look at DUDEstar in the future but it isn't on my current project list.

Re: Thoughts on portable HDMI displays for POTA

Most of the fpv goggles out there are analog 480p SD...and pretty low res display making it really hard to see small text. There are some newer goggles now that are HD but I haven't used any of them.

Rich .... I like your idea and the monitor comes in several sizes .... I use a 7" touch screen with wireless mouse =)?? The one I use serves as AVNAV as well =)

Has anyone tried video goggles, like the one the drone operators use? Portable operations in bright sunlight have been very problematic for us regardless of what we have tried for the monitor (laptop, iPOD, Kindle).

Re: DUDEstar for DMR on a pi4B

Until the budget builds up,? I am exploring DMR without the radio, for now, by connecting to other radios around the world, in hundreds of subject or geographic based talk groups, to monitor or to participate, or so I hope to in a day or two.? DUDEstar is the only ticket I know of to DMR without the radio, for now, and might be the only amateur radio mode possible from a location that restricts any RF other than standard wifi, if that is available.? That is skill and knowledge and capability I'd like to explore, as long as the internet is up.? And if we can then get DUDEstar to work on a Pi4B, even better!? Another amateur radio skill and capability even if the RF is all at the destination.? :-)

Let's get right to it.
Thank you for all your tutorials, scripts, and videos!
I used a build-a-pi v3 with RTC, and GPS (time standard) and G90, for ft8 on field day 2021

Re: Lab599 TX500 FLRig setup

I think you will love it Jerry.? It was pretty simple once I figured out FLRig.? I have noticed that I need to turn the RF down quite a bit on digital modes (js8,ft8 and pat) to keep from overloading the software.? I'm very impressed with the radio.? It replaced an X5105 that I really enjoyed too.?

WSJTX 2.4.0 abruptly closes

WSJTX 2.4.0 is unusable for me on my Pi 4b. I¡¯m wondering if any BAP users running this version also experience a problem.

The issue is that I can start WSJTX (after FLRIG which connects to and controls the radio just fine) and WSJTX starts and appears to work with waterfall and decoding) but as soon as I click anything in the GUI (change mode, change TX/RX slot in waterfall, or try to TX the WSJTX program abruptly shuts down. ?FLRIG is unaffected.

I¡¯ve built a new Pi up from a fresh OS image and fresh BAP install, but the problem remains.

I¡¯ve also discussed this on the WSJTX group and there they saya segmentation fault caused by a null pointer is the problem. ?If that is the case I¡¯d expect others using 2.4.0 to also experience this, but haven¡¯t seen anyone mention it.?

I don¡¯t think this is a BAP issue, but hoping someone here might have some good ideas for fixing it. ?WSJTX used to work for me pre 2.4.0 with the same hardware setup. I can fall back a version or two but before doing so wanted to ask here.

Re: Adding solar flux and a index to conky

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý

I missed your post, sorry. Jason has a great video showing how to add solar info to Conky, including adding the sun pic if you desire. Anytime you want to tweak BaP or Conky, see if Jason has a video, good possibility he has one that will walk you thru the setup.?
