Updated PAT and now City Weather doesn't go to outbox
Good evening,
I did an update on 73Linux and everything is working fine except when I go to Pat Catalog > Weather Reports select the city I am in, then when it says that it is posted to the outbox, it is not there.
I have done a refresh on the browser and it is still not there.?
?
Thanks
?

WSJT-X
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýDid a rebuild to my Linum Mint laptop and ran the Linux 73 script to install a the programs I¡¯m interested in. One of those was WSJT-X and it installed the RC3 version of the current version. Where can I find a repository that will load the current version. Loading the proper version from the WSJT-X site barfs. ? Ideas? ? Greg NZ6E |
Re: Audio levels on 73Linux
Thanks for the reply. I've messed around with buttons down there, but nothing seems to change anything. With windows, it's easy to control the audio levels (input & output) but I'm not finding where it is on the Raspberry Pi linux73.
?
I've got the ptt and digirig working, but with the red diamond indicator on the bottom right, the volume it too high and it is also having a difficult time decoding.? |
Re: Audio levels on 73Linux
FLDIGI has an output volume control on the bottom right of the screen if memory serves. On Mon, May 19, 2025, 05:25 KJ7RVG via <gabrielsemail=[email protected]> wrote:

Audio levels on 73Linux
I'm new to 73Linux, and I'm having a hard time finding where to control the audio levels. I'm using a digirig mobile on a Kenwood tm-d710g, and the audio level is too high in fldigi where the diamond at the bottom right side of fldigi is red. I'm new to Linux, and I can't find where to adjust the digirig soundcard in 73Linux. Thanks for the help!

Re: KM4ACK Video on Battery Device
I've been using one of these nice little?home-brew?charger/power switches: The list of materials is here:? It can be used with several different kinds of batteries including LiFePo4. I'm using it with SLA batteries as a backup for my Winlink station. I also have solar panels and a controller hooked up to the?batteries to charge if the main power goes out.? It will charge the batteries as long as you have mains power. Your power supply and battery plug into the unit. If you lose main power it switches to the battery in about 50 ms. The radio doesn't even blink. The LED display will state if the power is coming from mains or battery. It will also show the charge state, amps in, and amps out.? I've been using this for about six months with no hiccups to date. Earl On Wed, May 14, 2025 at 2:43?PM Ken Burnett K9LDO via <ken.bur1944=[email protected]> wrote:

¿ªÔÆÌåÓýThis might be the video you were looking for. If not Jason has a
YouTube channel that has all of his videos. It's under KM4ACK

KM4ACK Video on Battery Device
Hello All,
?
This isn't a Pi related question, but perhaps someone can assist.? I saw a video by KM4ACK, I think it was in the past few months, where he had a 'gizmo' that he connected to his battery.? He then both used the battery and charged the battery as normal.? The device would track the power in/out of the battery and would be able to tell you at any point, how much charge the battery had remaining.? It was supposed to be much better than just a voltage check.? I have a LifePo4 battery I would like to use a device like that with, and am hoping someone remembers the device he mentioned?
?
I looked through some old videos and his online store (and amazon store) and don't see anything.
?
Or... I just dreamed the entire thing up!? :)
?
?
Thanks for any help!

73Linux hangs on Chirp while installing or removing apps
I started 73Linux and wanted to de-install an app (not Chirp).? The script runs then hangs up. See attached screen shot.? Chirp starts and includes an error messsage.? See attached screen shot.? Chirp app cannot be closed using the task manager.? Only when the shell script is exited (and only by closing the window) does Chirp end.?
?
A while ago it seems that I could quit the Chirp app and the 73Linux script would continue.? But now, it is just stuck.
?
At this point I can neither install nor remove apps under 73Linux.? I am using a Raspi 4b and the latest 32-bit Pi-OS.
?
Can anyone provide a solution? |
Re: Using PAT Winlink with digipeater
Has this changed in the last 4+ years? I'm trying to connect to an RMS in the list and preceding the station ID with the digipeater ID. The software seems to be sending only the destination RMS, not the digipeater. If I reverse them, both calls are sent, but in the wrong order. When I mistyped the destination RMS, the wrong ID was sent through the digipeater. Naturally, there was no station out there to respond. Using exactly the same format with the correct destination, the digipeater info isn't sent. |
Re: GPS Stops working with thumb drive
Most can do GPS over Wifi or BT with no additional hardware required other than a smartphone and their Pi (or other computer). GPSD forwarder is a free Android app that makes it possible for Android and Linux. It's a bit more of a pain for Windows and requires a bit more effort but can be done with some GPS drivers on the Windows side and the Bluetooth GPS output app on the phone.? Re: GPS Stops working with thumb drive
If the USB port is giving grief, why not ditch it and try something like serial over BT or WiFi?
?
Here is a Serial to WiFi gadget built using an esp8266.
?
I run OpenPlotter, open source navigation software, on a RPi 3 using BT in place of serial.? The BT serial SPP connection appears? as a /dev/rfcomm0 virtual serial port.? OpenPlotter opens /dev/rfcomm0 which looks exactly like a serial port. This wireless connection? works quit well.? No issues.? |
Re: GPS Stops working with thumb drive
It's RF noise from the USB port...the 3.0 ports are much worse. Stick with the 2.0, use an extension USB cable for your GPS, or even better use your phone to stream it's GPS data with GPSD and no need for an external GPS. On Fri, May 2, 2025, 17:35 George via <HP1GDS75=[email protected]> wrote:
