Re: Setting up Pat Winlink on my pi: wrong port for flrig?

I am having the same problem.? I'm using a Pi 5 with a fresh build of the full suite of Linux 73.? WSJTX and JS8CALL and FLRIG and FLDIGI all work together beautifully.??
?
I have an Evolve III running PAT, VARA HF & FM, and WINLINK quite nicely.
?
But-- the Pi installation gives me the same apparent problem as the above postings.?
?
2025/06/04 14:08:26 Unable to get frequency from rig my-rig: dial tcp 127.0.0.1:4532: connect: connection refused.
?
It's the same for ARDOP, VARA, everything in PAT.? I've tried resetting TCP configurations on FLRIG and PAT.? No effect.? As above, I've tried deleting and reinstalling. No effect.
So, I'm baffled.??
?
Help please.??

Re: App install folder

Ah, duh, you are correct. Had configs on the brain apparently. ?? Good catch.?

We use Clonezilla a lot at work. Been meaning to try Rescuezilla I believe it¡¯s called.?

Re: App install folder

@brian?
Actually, the config files are in /etc, the apps themselves are usually in one of /bin, /sbin, /usr/bin. /usr/sbin, /home/<user>/bin, or /home/<user>/sbin, and even dedicated folders like /home/<user>/[program name]?
It does get ugly, fast, and if you are not linux proficient, and the app doesn't use a package manager like apt or it's equivalents, can be nearly impossible to remove or go back, making it almost easier to re-image.
My preference is to grab an image prior to major installations like 73linux which has many different installation methods in it, then I can get back to where I was before I screwed up. I use the terms image and clone interchangably, for a purpose made backup with minimal interaction and easy restoration. My favored app is clonezilla which operates on both Linux and Windows drives.

Re: App install folder

Well, new here, but usually Linux apps are installed in /etc or /opt, unless it¡¯s a web server thing, then it¡¯s likely /var (and probably /www under that). ?For Pi stuff, that should be correct. ?Gets a little crazier outside Debian-based distros, but mostly follows that from what I¡¯ve seen. Or you could cheat and use ¡®locate -i keyword¡¯ (replace keyword with app name: use quotes for more than one word). If it hasn¡¯t indexed it, then you may have to use ¡®find -iname keyword¡¯ to find it, again replacing keyword with the actual app name. The -i and -iname in those making it not case sensitive. Cut my IT teeth on Windows, but doing the Linux thing for about 9 years professionally now, though I¡¯d say I¡¯m at best maybe on the high end of novice at it. But hope that helps. ?

Conky log entries

App install folder

First off I want to say that I am not a complete noob with Linux but I am not able to find the folder where the 73Linux Ham Apps are installed. I want to install HAMRS Pro and put it in with all the other Ham Apps. Can someone point me in the right direction?

Updated PAT and now City Weather doesn't go to outbox

Good evening,
I did an update on 73Linux and everything is working fine except when I go to Pat Catalog > Weather Reports select the city I am in, then when it says that it is posted to the outbox, it is not there.
I have done a refresh on the browser and it is still not there.?

Thanks

fldigi crashes on startup - RPI 5

installed with 73-Linux... does it support RPi 5?
thanks

Re: pat not working

Can you verify that pat is running? To see run this:
systemctl status pat@$USER
?
If it's running, you should see Active: active (running)
?
If it's not, try:
sudo systemctl restart pat@$USER
?

Did a rebuild to my Linum Mint laptop and ran the Linux 73 script to install a the programs I¡¯m interested in.

One of those was WSJT-X and it installed the RC3 version of the current version. Where can I find a repository that will load the current version. Loading the proper version from the WSJT-X site barfs.

Re: Audio levels on 73Linux

Thanks for the reply. I've messed around with buttons down there, but nothing seems to change anything. With windows, it's easy to control the audio levels (input & output) but I'm not finding where it is on the Raspberry Pi linux73.
?
I've got the ptt and digirig working, but with the red diamond indicator on the bottom right, the volume it too high and it is also having a difficult time decoding.?

Re: Audio levels on 73Linux

FLDIGI has an output volume control on the bottom right of the screen if memory serves.

Re: KM4ACK Video on Battery Device

I've been using one of these nice little?home-brew?charger/power switches:
The list of materials is here:?

It can be used with several different kinds of batteries including LiFePo4. I'm using it with SLA batteries as a backup for my Winlink station. I also have solar panels and a controller hooked up to the?batteries to charge if the main power goes out.?

It will charge the batteries as long as you have mains power. Your power supply and battery plug into the unit. If you lose main power it switches to the battery in about 50 ms. The radio doesn't even blink. The LED display will state if the power is coming from mains or battery. It will also show the charge state, amps in, and amps out.?

I've been using this for about six months with no hiccups to date.
